I assume everyone will be donning black armbands to commemorate the passing of one of the world's greatest actors, one who has given generations of young and old pleasure. He was 80.

Popular actor passes away

The last paragraph reveals why he remains an inspiration to us all.

RIP Old Fella.

That life span is a real surprise. It is also a surprise that he was sent to a sanctuary instead of a private home. He seemed a little humanly adapted to be sent off like that. Poor little guy.

    RIP Cheetah.

      "Worlds greatest actor??!?!?"

Stupid posts, a wasted 45 seconds of life I won't get back.

Stupid titles like this, photo shopped crap/wanna be video(movie directors) on You Tube and other misdirection of Google results all the freakin time, can't "get" to the information one is really searching for.

"ONE" of the reasons internet surfing/research takes so damn long.

Wish this had a "thumbs down", all the way down on this stupid post, I'll click it a million times.

Like a 10 thumb down vote means it NEVER reaches the top 5 results, regardless of recent post. A 20 thumb vote means it never reaches the top 20 results and so on.

These misdirected titles are both stupid and rarely, if ever, are funny, and I like comedy.

Audience says Boooooooooooooo......, on this stupid junk title.

You didn't know something like this was behind the title? And you were reading posts in OT because your time at that moment was so precious to you?

Sal, he was moved to the "sanctuary" near here because his owners were in the third generation and weren't properly trained to look after him. His "cage" looked like an executive suite at the Radisson. It was designed to insure his safety and the safety of the handlers. Two rooms, one inside and one outside. He came and went as he pleased, had "friends" over daily and interacted with qualified handlers almost hourly. He had the best of health care which probably was the reason for his longevity.

Interestingly enough, this may be the capital for retired apes. If you can remember J. Fred Muggs from the 50s Today Show with Dave Garroway, he is also retired here and as far as I can find on the net is still alive in Citrus Park, Florida being cared for by the son of one of the original owners. His last gig was Busch Gardens here in Tampa but that was some time ago.

Nah - I was more partial to Jane...

(and after that poor Lady had her face ripped off a few years back, I took Chimps off my wish list...)
I still want an Orangutan though...like Clyde -

Thomas - Thanks for the info about his living situation.

Adult chimps aren't great for private homes and from what I saw he had not only the best of medical and nutritional care but also a lot of interaction with people.

Sanctuary outreach director Debbie Cobb on Wednesday told The Tampa Tribune that Cheetah was outgoing, loved finger painting and liked to see people laugh. She says he seemed to be tuned into human feelings.
