People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

I wonder how the large corporations responsible for making and selling piracy software - and promoting its use as such, then turned around and petitioned for SOPA (i.e. - lets take over the net, guys, I know how to do it).......will react to that. LMAO.

The corps that put the millions (or more) into lobbying for the drafting of this bill are really responsible for much of the problem......that is that they are violating the very laws they want to cram down everyone else's throat.

A few years ago when I spent some time in a small room thinking about my actions (totally unrelated to IM) I was playing chess with another very intelligent fellow who was also considering the actions of his past.

It seems that he was a doctor and an attorney, and his brother was in the insurance business... so he was able to explain to me why the medications we see in commercials always have worse side effects than the problem they are orginally meant to cure.

What the drug companies do is leave out some of the test results and pretend they are trying to hide them. Then they advertise the drug heavily, and pretend they are disclosing everything they know about.

Then people have heart attacks, kidney failure, etc. and during the investigations the reports that the drug companies already knew are "accidently" left where they can be found.

Then there is a class-action lawsuit-- You've seen those commercials as well. This is where the lawyers find as many of the victims as they can, get them to sign, and take a huge chunk of the money that is paid out by the insurance companies of the drug companies that started the cycle.

You see, the really smart people at the top, they planned this. It's like the forum programmers who are nice enough to give away their software for free, with the Captcha and everything-- but they have already written programs that get past them.

Or the anti-virus companies that are releasing the viruses. The people making huge money are selling the problem and the solution.

My chessmate explained that what he thought about most is how smart he thought he was, raking in millions upon millions of dollars. But, if he was really smart, he would have used the same type of scam, only he would have been in Congress or would have been a county sherrif or judge.

Because the people who make the laws don't have to actually follow them. Neither do the major corporations and lobbyists that own those law makers and enforcers.

No, you don't cheat in chess when you are on the Inside.

Anyway, doctors rarely know the effects that are hidden from the public, unless they are in on the scheme they only know what the salespeople tell them.

Well, I'm glad to see that Google and some other heavyweights are publicly opposing SOPA - but only time will tell if their opposition holds. Companies have done back-flips on their policies before ...

    Mike,

So when you say companies, you REALLY mean doctors that left out the bad results? In EITHER case, that is a FELONY on several levels. They lied to the FDA, released drugs they knew were technically NOT approved, committed perjury, are guilty of reckless endangerment, conflict of interest, etc....

I don't doubt that they fail to report results. I just doubt that any principles in the company knowingly save or release such things.

BESIDES, a class action lawsuit ONLY needs to show that the plaintiff caused the class such grief. They DON'T need to show it was known, or even that it COULD have been known.

BTW your chessmate probably cheats in CHESS ALSO!

You know, someone should make a list of ALL supporters of SOPA. EVERY LAST ONE! And they should do *******EXACTLY****** what the sopa supporters want! STOP PROVIDING CONTENT............TO THE SUPPORTERS! Wouldn't THAT be nice? I can think of one way to do it that would be near impossible to shut down, unless they basically want to get rid of the internet. BUT, I know a way that we COULD conceivably use current technology that everyone has to act as a backbone. It wouldn't be quite as good, and would require a VPN like type program, but it could be done. Of course, we COULD go back to 1970s style technology. I GUARANTEE that AOL, comcast, and earthlink, among others WILL do that in such a case as it is painless and te only way to easily stay in business.

Why doesn't the government admit it?

    1. The proverbial genie is out of the bottle!
    2. She has been VERY good to us!
    3. It is STUPID to punish BILLIONS of innocent people for the wrong doings of a few hundred million.
    4. There is NO way this will stop piracy! Piracy existed BEFORE this, and will exist AFTER it. That is FACT! SORRY! I have been saying this regarding this EXACT same thing for about 30 years! YEP, 3 FULL decades! Eventually, the software providers realized I was right all along, and STOPPED copy protecting disks and the like. Microsoft has closed down HUGE B&M shops DECADES ago for manufacturing CDs with their software. Concerts have prohibited cameras and tape recorders to try to stem copying. EVEN presidential campaigns have copied the competitions media!

IMAGINE the HORROR if a sopa supporter needed to diagnose a sickness, plan an important flight, etc... and found they weren't allowed on the site!
