Hello,
I am planning to buy a new desktop. Here is the configuration what I was thinking of. Also I provide the rates provided by my vendor.
* Intel Core 2 Duo 2.6 Ghz Processor - Rs.5,900
* 4 GB RAM - Rs.2,400
* Intel DG35 Original motherboard - Rs.4,850
* 256 DDR3 video card - Rs.4,400
* 320 GB HDD - Rs.2,700

I wish to connect the desktop to my sony Bravia 46" LCD TV(1080i FULLHD) via HDMI. Can I get full HD support via my graphic card??? Suggest me a good company of the video card.
Please suggest me any change that I need to the configuration. Suggest me a good sound card too.
Also If you are in INDIA let me know if the prices I mentioned here are too high. I just want to double check the prices of my vendor too

Thanks in advance.....

    I use ATI (Now owned by AMD) multi monitor video cards (DVI 1) in all
    of my computers. I don't know what you have in mind to use
    the computer for but my friends who are gamers are mostly using
    SLI motherboards with duel video cards and multiple monitors. I
    am so used to working with two or three monitors now that I think
    I'd find it difficult to go back to one with all the toggling back and
    forth. When I am building sites or posters the extra real estate is
    very handy.

    Make sure the hard disk is 7200 RPM otherwise it will be a big bottleneck to you system. ATI or NVIDIA both make good cards, I have a HD4870 card from ATI which is really good and powerful. It has 2 DVI out and they include a DVI to HDMI converter with which you can easily connect it to your Bravia. Normally if you buy a decent mobo, they had HD sound and so I would not even recommend buying a seperate sound card, unless you are some audiophile!

    This is what I would recommend about your new desktop. Only suggestions, you don't have to change anything if you don't want to.

    * Intel CPU is good, next step would be Quad Core, and looking for 3GHz or higher, but the price might become too expensive.

    * 4 GB RAM is great, but remember if you run Microsoft Windows you will need their 64-bit version to access more than 3 GB, there are some affordable "media PC" configurations from HP that have 6GB.

    * Intel motherboard, would like to know the bus speed and all of the capabilities that come with it, sometimes it's nice to have built-in wireless and options for future expansion.

    * 256 DDR3 video card, today the 1GB video cards are affordable, if you need crisp graphics for games or editing movies I would suggest more.

    * 320 GB HDD, someone else already mentioned the speed should be 7200 rpm, but if you need fast read times and more throughput consider using SCSI and speeds of 10k or 15k, then buy more than one to use for your own RAID array.

    Sorry but I don't know about the prices inside your country. In the US there is a pricewatch.com website that helps me to find the lowest prices. You might be able to still use that for free shipping to your location. Good luck and let us know what you decide to change and what you desktop looks like. Thank you.

    first off congratulation that u are buying a pc i feel that GB ram for 2,400
    is a bit more that the normal rate according to the rate in lamington road 2gb ram costs around 900 rs so look into that and i would like to suggest u to not take a 320 gb hard drive u should take a 160gb hard drive and then take a 500gb external drive with power cord so that will increase your pc perforcemence and u should keep your data in the external drive and pc dose have more load and for graphic card go for an nvidia gforcecosting around 9000rs

    all the best have fun
