In Italy, it is apparently ILLEGAL to pay over $1000 cash for something!

Italy Approves 30 Billion-Euro Emergency Plan for Economy - Businessweek

The package touches on all aspects of Italian society with items aimed at shrinking the size of the government, raising the retirement age, forcing all transactions of more than 1,000 euros to be done electronically to fight tax evasion, an increase of the sales tax of two percentage points, and tax breaks for companies that hire young workers and women.

...forcing all transactions of more than 1,000 euros to be done electronically to fight tax evasion,
Wow... won't be long until that happens here from what I can tell.

That's one way of forcing someone ONTO the grid, forcing all your info to be on the interwebs. I realize most peoples already is, but still, that is something.

He said something that caught my eye tho,
"...it’s the fault of Italians because in the past we didn’t pay enough attention to the well being of the young and the future adults of Italy."
They are definitely not alone on that one...my latest pet peeve is the stuff they are letting on regular TV.

The other day I was sitting watching a local broadcasting station at about eleven in the morning and they had a commercial on for a vibrator..yea, that kind..I'm hardly a prude, but some things are for adults and some for kids.
"Go ask your mother" is going to be a well used phrase around here, I can tell.
When I think of some of the things kids are watching in some households, makes me shudder.

About time people started thinking about the kids.

Doubt we will see it in our lifetimes...but cash may become a thing of the past, someday. I see more of an electronic 'points' system.

At least they are trying something..fast.
