Lol that is crazy! A few weeks ago, I got something on one of our contact forms asking for $2,000 to get us to #1 in Google. Funny thing was, we are already #1 in Google.

What dumb spammers!

I'm sure his secret method of making money online is to send out emails asking people to send him $5,000 -- and then telling you the secret is to use his email template and then send out your own $5,000 emails!

But of course you're correct: those emails get sent out because there's always one person that's gonna send the money. In fact, it's guaranteed that somebody will send the money...

Yeah, thats the really sad part for me. Some people probably do fall for these kinds of crap, other wise these people wouldn't do it.

I mean, sending out a few thousands emails takes a few seconds and out of few thousands even if one falls for it, they made their money.

Its really sad.

Falls for what? Your offer? Is it a good service?

Lets say you got two clients out of a mailing of one thousand small business owners.

Two telemarketers will eat through a thousand small business leads in a day. The numbers are pretty normal if 2 sales come out of a thousand leads, however "low".

The thing that makes it an attractive strategy is that it depends on the numbers, and not people sales ability. So its easily scalable.

Later the leads become "rehash" and even more sales are squeezed from them over time....call backs come in...

My point was that, a thousand leads is a normal amount of leads that would produce maybe a sale to maybe 10 sales over time in most forms of direct marketing.

It would be nice to have $5000 to spend frivolously. We don't even have that amount for necessities. Yes, there are actually people who would send them money. If anyone has $5000, I think they already know how to earn & will be putting that toward more worthwhile pursuits.

They should be sending that message out to small brick and mortar business people, and not other marketers.

If you've got $5000 to drop on an idea perhaps you should just continue doing what your doing and you really don't need his secret.

Whats really funny is how there are many here who debate dropping $5 on a WSO yet this guy is fishing for 1000 times that much with no guarantee, refund or anything.

If you fall for this it is pretty obvious someone besides you should be in charge of your checkbook.

Scammers are everywhere.

You guys have no doubt heard about the email scam where the sender promises to give you $100,000 and all you have to do is cash a cashier's check he will send to you.

You simply deposit the cashier's check, send the scammer the money right away and after 5 days or so your bank tells you the check is no good.

I got one of these emails not too long ago.

I don't usually respond, but I must have been in one of the moods (time of month?) and told him I was interested.

He sent me the certified check. It looked legit. I've seen a lot of certified checks and this one looked genuine - even had the watermark.

I Googled the routing number and called the bank.
Wow. The check was counterfeit.
I reported it to the bank.

I sent it to the FBI with a copy of all my emails.

What I usually do with emails like that is tell them how excited I am they contacted me and ask them to call me right way . . . then I give them the phone number for the FBI like it's my number.

Dennis, that is a great idea. I usually keep these kinds of nugget emails in a folder almost like I am collecting them. I still have his email, maybe I will take your advice and have some fun with it. Thanks.

Do you think there's any chance s/he got the "punctuation" wrong and in the wrong place? Do you think they were really spamming for $50.00?

Maybe they were just aiming high, eh? Thinking, well . . . one order at 5k vs 100 at $50

That doesn't sound like a very sophisticated scammer. I doubt if anyone who would fall for that would have easy access to $5,000.

I've been getting spam emails that aren't remarkable in any way except for the alleged name of the sender -Dr. Peter McWealth. If you were trying to pose as a legitimate director of some kind of wealth discovery bureau, would you use a name like that?

I knew this guy in college who had a "system". He figured if he just came out and asked a hundred girls to sleep with him, 99 girls would slap his face, and one would say yes...

And I have to admit...99 times out of 100 - he was right!
