If that is Photoshopped, they did one heck of a job keeping all of the shadows consistent.

That photo can't be real, crocodiles don't grow that long do they? I'm voting for it being a fake

I think it's real. Every now and again those little guys turn in to hella huge guys, just like you hear of super-sized other animals now and then. It's just one of those record breakers that ya see now and again.

I don't think someone used photoshop on it. It looks very real, including where the shadows should be. If it was done by photoshop, looks like the person that did it must be a high degree black belt. I'm no expert, but I think this is real.

I'd guess it's real. Looks about the same size as this monster on the National Geographic site: Pictures: Biggest Crocodile Ever Caught?

Whoa,Dennis - that big boy is 21ft. - I guess that looks about right...
but if as Steve mentions there was one might have been 33ft ?

That biologist mentions largest Croc 'in captivity', so, what about alive, or killed?

I think even Steve Irwin would've stepped back..."Crikey! I'm not going near that bugga!" ...

      *he'd make a hellava pair o' boots though...

I say it's real. The photgrapher's choice of lense is causing the people to appear closer to the croc than they really are, and this makes the croc look bigger.

BTW I used to be a photo-retoucher, and the size of the croc could easily be exaggerated in a few minutes but I don't think that's the case here.

Well, the shadows being right is debatable. If that croc is alive, WHY is it there, and why are they looking at it? The head to body length here is about right. 20' is apparently not a record. There re claims of a 33 footer, though the estimates based on the skull length indicate it may be closer to 17'5" Crocs n the head study were 16" to 15'5".

That's not a croc, they killed a dinosaur!

No, I think it's a perspective/parallax error - it's a wide-angle shot with the locals far behind it, and the crocodile looks bigger from our vantage point, than it really is. It's, maybe, no more than 14-15ft in reality.

During my first stay in Fl. I got to meet Bill Haast who was the director of the Miami Serpentarium. At that time they had two Crocodiles that where both over 15 ft. long. Neither one looked real as they lay sunning themselves. Then one moved which even with them in a pit with a high wall was an underwear changing experience

It bears saying that crocs have THREE methods of attack! Many think they only have ONE!

    1. They can of course bite, hard enough to snap your legs, etc... like a little twig.
    2. They can, if they get you in the right spot, grab you and take you under the water and push you until you DROWN!
    3. Their tail can easily break your legs.

Surprisingly, they save their energy and can seemingly release it all at once, so they CAN be fast.

Luckily they have some weak points though. The muscles to open their jaws, for example, are weak, so you can hold them, or tape them shut. Also, they don't like moving fast if they can't see.

Oh well, 10' or 33' I would probably make sure I stay at least 3 lengths away, and WATCH IT! From what I have seen, if you were one length away, it could concievably run up to you and break your legs before you could react. It is unlikely, but possible.

... and they're faster over short distances on land than many realize ... apparently they can achieve speeds of up to 10MPH!

But, they can accelerate even faster! So, if you're standing too close to one, you'd better watch out!

Um..anyone considered that those people might just be really small?

Actually, it doesn't look Photoshopped - but the people are strategically arranged. They're some distance behind the croc and seem to be lined up in a sort of wide V-shape with those at the ends placed further back.

It has the effect of making what is still a pretty large-looking beast appear a whole lot larger.

Definitely could be real. The size isn't what makes me skeptical it's the live crocodile with it's mouth open remaining passive in front of so many people that makes me a bit skeptical.

Salt Water Crocodiles can reach lengths of 20 feet.
As per Wikipedia: "The longest crocodile ever measured snout-to-tail and verified was the skin of a dead crocodile, which was 6.2 metres (20 ft) long."

Here's a story about a 21 ft crocodile captured in the Philippines.

I also think its a photoshop because a crocodile cant grow that big. Also one of its characteristics is that it cant stand all those people around it.It would just turn on them
    and scare them away.

      lol

If I'm sure of anything, I know that if a bunch of people (never mind the croc!) are going to stand next to a 20ft crocodile chances are it's dead, unless we as humans have evolved to having the characteristics of wanting to be eaten alive...
