Well I'm now fed up with my iPhone 3 and I want to change my phone and want to try something new in terms new OS and New mobile experience. I have two option one with Android OS powered Samsung Galaxy Y or Windows Phone 7 powered for Nokia Lumia 710!

Any experts please suggest me an idea!

go for Samsung Omnia i8350... you will love refreshing Windows 7.5 Mango... the features are comparable to Lumia 800 (only camera and memory is less)... the cost is less than Nokia 710...

I am bit fed-up with the copied android interface on every phone... its same like 10 years ago when every one used to have the Nokia and each had that stupid Symbian interface in them.

Windows 7.5 is cool, specs of the phone are awesome... and the prices... well if you were planning a Lumia 800 then you could almost buy 2 of these and send one to me..

    Best Wishes

iPhone 3 is iPhone 3GS I suppose. Have you tried iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S ? The new OS is better and the display is gorgeous.

From what I know, iPhone 4 and 4S have the best battery life in this segment. I own an iPhone4 and the battery lasts for about 2 days. I have a friend who owns an Samsung Galaxy S2 and if he still has some battery life left when he arrives from work he's happy.

Which model? If LTE, maybe... if not, sounds like your friend doesn't know how to setup the phone correctly. I have the AT&T version of the Galaxy S2 and it last longer then my 4S, of which 4S saw a sharp drop in battery life vs the 4 b/c of the new OS and processor.

Plus you can root the phones easily along with custom roms for different interfaces and other extras like even better battery life, pretty cool. Much prefer using my GS2 vs our 4S. Windows new Mango system is cool too, only problem is app development since it doesn't have a big user base yet.

I think it's the standard model, but still, my iPhone 4 outlasts the S2. I don't know much about the 4S, all I've heard is that they've had some problems with the battery, but I don't know if they fixed them.

No standard model, there's a couple different models across different carriers, all different screen sizes, different processors etc. The AT&T one is the best combo which I have, Exynos processor, and 4.3" screen... there's another AT&T version called the skyrocket but it's battery isn't as good b/c it has a 4.5" screen and LTE and it uses the older snapdragon processor. iPhone 4S doesn't really have battery issues, just the new iOS5 is more intensive and the processor is more powerful than before, test also show the 4S having more draw on the battery in sleep mode or in use (if you search the Mac forum somebody posted a pic). But iOS5 is also glitchy, definitely the buggiest OS they've released.

The way I have my GS2 setup it's lasting pretty close to our iPhone 4 and better than our 4S, and that's without a custom Rom right now. That's the trick with Android, lot of people just buy the phone and have no idea how to set it up or go through settings etc (like a buddy was complaining of his bad battery life so I checked it out and he had widgets like crazy, and even games and other apps were constantly connecting to the network etc).

I always had iPhones, but I fricken love this GS2, just so much you can customize and set to your preferences and with Roms even more tweaking and unique UIs to use, way more than my jailbroken iPhones can even do. Screen is awesome too, the 3.5" on the iPhone just seems too small now.

Can't go wrong either way though, I personally refuse to use an iPhone w/o jailbreak lol, hate Apples restrictions and stuff they should have included in the first place lol.

Next iPhone is pry going to have between a 4-4.3" screen.

I think new phones based on Windows new Mango OS will be prime contenders too if they can get the developer backing for app's, since a lot have said they only want to focus on Android and iOS. Mango is pretty sweet, nice fresh OS to use.

Average Joe doesn't know what jailbreak or rom is in the first place, so they should cater for the masses not for the ones able to tweak it.

Just yesterday I realized why Apple is having so much success. Their products are idiot proof. I mean, you just can't say you don't know how to use them. Android on the other hand, are sometimes tricky. I have a friend who is smart, I mean, he's not stupid at all. We went into an electronic store, checkout out a Samsung tablet (don't know which one), and he couldn't even unlock it. Why? because (i) the sleep button doesn't really stand out and (ii) because the unlock gesture is to swipe the circle with the lock to one side or another. But the trick is at that it's not really intuitive. On the iOS, there is a button with a clear arrow on it, and a clear path (the "channel" where the button slides along).

You might consider these little things, but they are not, really. I also laughed when S2 decided to put the "1.2 gh processor" or whatever on the box. Who cares? I asked some people who had S2 and they didn't know and didn't care, it's just useless to put it there.

I think all in all, iPhones are cooler, but if you have real stuff to do, S2 can do more. However, as I said, most people are normal people who use the phone to listen to music, take pictures, message, talk and surf the web, asides from using the apps. Also, many people fear rom-ing or jailbreaking their phones because they are warned that they will lose their warranty.

So that's why iPhone is so popular and outselling all these breakthrough-technology-infused phones.

It's larger, but the apps are not that qualitative.

                Quality over quantity, always.

not true anymore, have had no trouble finding app's I used on my iPhones (or similar) that are as good or better in Android Market (or other markets), including some games that are better then the iPhone version as I downloaded some that I had on the iPhones, heck you can even find people on the apple/mac forums agreeing with that now. A few years ago, yeh that statement would be true about quality regarding app's, not know though. Good thing with Android is you can test app's for free before buying, especially helpful when there's multiple apps for something your looking for. With Apple your screwed, you could be looking for X and there are 15 app's for it, you could buy all or even a couple only to find out majority suck. And can't go by reviews since majority are useless, I've bought app's that got great reviews only to find out that the app IMO sucked but I was SOL since I bought it.

I just jailbroke the 4S for the gf, screw Apple and their dumb restrictions lol. They won't even put toggles in the notification center lol, IM'ing sucks w.o BiteSMS, they still limit you on # apps per folder and no folders within a folder.... I could go on and on. Can't stand using an non-jailbroken iPhone, may be hers, but if it's in my house it's mandatory jailbreak time haha

I would not say making fart noises are quality apps.

99% of apps for both platforms are garbage.

Android probably the top choice, and win7 comes after. Apple has spent over 100million suing android phone manufactors, and as you know, you can only install apps on iphone through their app store, where as android youcan install wherever you want. Apple and their dictatorship needs to go away, time for android to take over. PS you also can't take out your iphone battery, or it void warranty LOL, yeah no thanks apple.

This is coming to AT&T Feb 2012... looks great. It's a big'un. I currently have a Dell Streak with a 5" screen and LOVE IT. Once you've used a bigger screen device, everything else looks so TINY.

I'm 6'4", so it would be no problem fitting in my pocket and would be perfect in my hands...

Here is why I dont like apple phones.
You cant take out the sim.
    There is no memory card
You can't do anything without Apples Permission, you need an app for everything, you cant download or upload to any computer and only to your itunes account.
    They treat their customers poorly.
Its all about getting you to buy the next latest and greatest.
You cannot store your contacts on your sim and remove or upload.
It made me feel like a dog on a leash chained to an apple tree.

And thats the end of that little rave.

If you are coming from the iPhone 3 then I don't think you are going to like the Samsung Galaxy Y. It's an entry level model that has a small screen, making typing messages hard if you have large fingers.

Windows 7 phone all the way! I have one and it is a beautiful thing! It works wonderfully and unlike other touch screens there is no way to butt dial or accidentally hang up on anyone because it locks the screen. It immediately notifies me when I have an email and the apps are awesome! should be getting paid for this plug lol

i just got new upgrades on two of business phones today - an iphone4s and the Android Captivate S2 4G LTE

I like both phones but for out and out raw speed the droid is by far way way faster, using the speedtest.net app on both phones the android connectivity is 20x faster than the iphone - i just ran the speed test right now and got 26mb/s down and 13mp/s up compared to that of the iPhones 2mb/s down and 1mb/s up.

When the iPhone gets LTE technology then i will probably use it for my day to day phone but since i use tethering/hotspot a lot then my droid is a no brainer.

If your not bothered about high speed internet connectivity then my choice would be iphone....

Hope someone finds that useful and constructive!

    Cheers,

    Jay

PS ill do an update on my decision after i have had a proper chance to play around with it!
