Hi

I got an Android phone for Christmas and just had it turned on. The first question I have is, must I always be logged on to a Gmail account? I see no way to log out completely.

    YEP!!!!!

It turns out that a lot of phone functionality, from what I can see, is NOT really in the phone!!!!! It ties into that functionality on GOOGLE! This has a lot of potential, needs les memory, can search faster, supports instant global replication, Updates from other sources, etc....

Of course, it ALSO means you need a google account, others can see your stuff, less privacy, etc....

Btw which phone did you get? I have the AT&T Galaxy S2, even though we have iPhones still including the 4S. This phone rocks, best thing you can do is root it and install a custom rom---> no more carrier bloatware, and some very cool UI/OS enhancements.
