This happened on T** airlines.

A 50-something year old red woman arrived at her seat and saw that the passenger next to her was a yellow man.

Visibly furious, she called the air hostess.

"What's the problem, ma?" the hostess asked her

"Can't you see?" the lady said - "I was given a seat next to a yellow man. I can't seat here next to him. You have to change my seat"

- "Please, calm down, ma" - said the hostess
"Unfortunately, all the seats are occupied, but I'm still going to check if we have any."

The hostess left and returned some minutes later.

"Madam, as I told you, there isn't any empty seat in this class- economy class.
But I spoke to the captain and he confirmed that there isn't any empty seats in the economy class. We only have seats in the first class."

And before the woman said anything, the hostess continued

"Look, it is unusual for our company to allow a passenger from the economy class change to the first class.
However, given the circumstances, the commandant thinks that it would be a scandal to make a passenger travel sat next to an unpleasant person."

And turning to the yellow man, the hostess said:

"Which means, Sir, if you would be so nice to pack your handbag, we have reserved you a seat in the first class..."

And all the passengers nearby, who were shocked to see the scene started applauding, some standing on their feet."

ps : I don't want to be controversional, so I changed a few words, so that, you got the meaning that I want to say "We are human being, all the same!"

pps : I found this story from my friend's facebook, and find a beautiful message, which later I'm sharing it here.

Is T** TWA? If so, you DO realize that they are out of business and you can safely relate such things. And I assume you meant the man was black, and the woman was white. Given the outcome, I think blacks would like that, rather than be offended.

Of course, if all my assumptions are right, and this really happened, it was many years ago.

Cute story though. I should have seen it coming. JUST before the part where they said SIR, I figured that was going to happen. Back then, first class really WAS first class! For ONCE, he would have been HAPPY at the complaint!

What does it matter if the man was red, yellow, white, black, maroon, blue, green or magenta? Or if the woman was whatever shade of the rainbow she was? The point of the story is..we are all of the same makeup. We are all scientifically constructed from energy/atoms are we not? Please some more scientifically minded person jump in and correct or articulate this further...

"Assume" makes an ASS out of U and ME.

Your response to this is...questionable and IMO condescending.

Please, I invite you to correct me if I'm wrong.

This could've happened to anyone anywhere...you don't have to be "black" or "white" as seasoned pointed out...you could be of the same skin shade but live on different borders of "whatever"...

My takeaway from this is if you're a naaaasty person and put someone else down to lift yourself up REGARDLESS, then Karma's a B**** I don't wanna eff with - and if you wanna? I feel sorry for you PERIOD.

You are, and I am SURE you realize this, reading this out of context! He said he changed the wording because he felt it would otherwise offend. GEE, I notice you don't mention my statement about TWA, Why is THAT? I mean I essentially said the same thing, in the same context.

I assumed he was black because she so freely assumed that all should know she should dislike, etc... Some REALLY racist whites did that maybe 60 years ago or so. I guess you're right though, it could have been a chinese aircraft flying from china, or an african one flying from most of africa, and I guess the other could have been a white person. Who knows. Sorry for not taking other countries into account.

He mentioned colors, so I leaned that way. Sorry.

Oh well, I have flown almost every week for the past decade, and sat besides asians, blacks, hispanics, etc... from the US, canada, australia, mexico, france, germany, china, young and old. Never had a problem with them, or cared, and they didn't have a bad time with me. Heck, to the best of my knowledge, US airlines don't notify you of sitting arrangements, and don't allow you to specify a preference.

I USUALLY don't talk, but I spoke with an australian, frenchman, and a woman from china, and they seemed to enjoy it. Sometimes THEY ended up talking a bluestreek! I moved maybe 5 times, because the seat was small, another row opened up, or two others wanted to be near one another. Once I moved because of weight balance issues, and once because I got an upgrade. People moved away from me to be with a group member, weight balance, or because a free row opened up. In the exit row, a boy was forced to move because he was too young, and a woman was forced to leave because she had a seatbelt extender.

Want to hear something funny? That chinese woman that I spoke to a couple weeks ago was sitting in the seat that, only HOURS earlier, was allocated to ME! I always check my seating before I board. For all you race baiters out there, they say ONLY if a seat is occupied or not, and where YOU are sitting. You can't see a persons race or sex. That's OK, I never considered that. Well, they had me in the center seat, and the aisle was unoccupied. I HATE the center, so I moved to the aisle, leaving the center open. This woman got her seat assignment late, and so they put her in that same seat, in the center. We kind of joked around about that. SHE seemed to prefer the center. If you haven't figured it out, I check the seats ONLY because I want to be in the 2nd row in the class, or the closest one behind it, and in the aisle. ALSO, sometimes someone messes up and I don't get assigned a seat. So I want to validate that I have one. There are several reasons for that and NONE have to do with anyone's heritage, etc...

OH WELL RB, I feel sorry for YOU! I once mused on here how I struggled to describe a person without mentioning that he was black, and I wanted to pay him a COMPLIMENT. He was the ONLY black waiter in the restaurant! I guess if it were a life or death matter, maybe someone could die over such a conundrum.
