Robots Creepiest When Most Human-Like (VIDEOS)

Actually when they are most human like, I think they will not be creepy... when they are almost human like, but something seems off, then they look creepy. I read an article about that one time, I think.

Well, they didn't creep ME out, The one that I thought showed SOME promise was actually kind of cute. She's a singer!

    1. too robotic. looks ok when movement is not called for
    2. more realistic look, but still OFF
    3. forget it
    4. obviously an attempt to replicate human sounds, nothing more.
5.closer, but I think it is mimicing moves
    6. seriously!?
    7. I can't see it's face clearly, and it has no manual dexterity, but NOW you are talking. Balancing while dancing is a neat trick. They COULD have a moving support, but they very well might not.
    8. highly realistic? I have a bridge I can sell you!
    9. been done to death!
    10. forget it!
    11. NOPE

  • I dunno...the "kissing" robots kind of reminded me of that little robotic arm episode "Wolowitz" had on "Big Bang Theory"...

Very interesting! They've come a long way from even just a few years ago. The singing/dancing robot girl is kind of cute! (But the little girl robot is creepy!)

I can't believe how human some of those robots looked. I didn't find them creepy at all, I thought they were really cool I'm waiting for the day I can buy one of these robots to do my housework for me haha

Give me a break! The look, hair, eyes, skin, etc... is WELL over a decade old, in fact I think it is WELL over 2 decades old. The blinking on those robots is actually ARCHAIC! They can do FAR better today! The movement is ALSO well over a decade old. HELL the technology in one of those robots is IDENTICAL to what disney at least USED to use, and disney ******DECADES AGO****** when I was a little kid, did BETTER with an "animatronic" abraham lincoln.

The BEST thing I saw there, and the ONLY thing I don't think I have seen before was a robot dancing at a reasonable speed and apparently balancing on its feet! MANY mobile robots have MORE than 2 legs because such balance is quite difficult. And MANY movement mechanisms are SLOW for various reasons. In fact, you will notice that she always had her legs bent. That is a common trick to shift the center of gravity. But even THAT is difficult.

So WHAT makes you think ANY of the other stuff is new or special? They had one robot, for example, that blinked PRECISELY once every second! EVEN on star trek TNG data once spoke of how his was based on fibernachis sequence to appear more normal. GRANTED, it was FICTION, but it described the problem and a potential solution.

It's even scarier when robots start imitating humans.

I think it was you that originally posted that video.
It ranks #2 in Google for "proof we live inside the matrix".

That's a human imitating a robot! Dancer: Marquese Scott

It IS good for a human, although there may be some video trickery. But I have yet to see a robot do anything like that without tricks.
