I Never Ask For Help But...

This isn't for me. It's for my daughter. She needs a job. I told her I'd look around
to see if there were any of my friends here who needed a VA. I applied through
the classifieds on the forum but the person didn't even have the courtesy to reply back.
So I'm coming to my friends.

My daughter is extremely bright and more than knows her way around a computer.
She'll be open to just about anything as long as it's legal.

If you need help or know of anybody who might need help, please let me know.
I will have her contact you or follow whatever your instructions are.

This is really important as she only has 4 months expenses left to live on. In the
meantime, she will be looking for work on her own through various sources. But
if anybody here can help her out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

Just curious - wouldn't she be the perfect 'heiress apparent' to pick up your business where you are leaving off and run with it?

Hecka better return on effort than a VA in most cases.

Or why not give her one or more of your WSO packages to work with?

(I wish her luck in whatever she does)

    {my son just started a new job - unemployed 2 years with a BA in Business- all he did was move to proximity of Silicon Valley and Voila! (couldn't get him interested in IM)}

I am sorry about the lack of jobs for young people. I teach young people from time to time and its horrible out there at the moment. No work in Uk either. Only thing going is apprenticeships. She might want to do some volunteer work for a month as competition is so high. Keep chin up, even if its grim out there.

To answer everybody's questions, she doesn't want to run an IM business. At
least not mine. She wouldn't mind becoming a professional photographer and
having her own business in that respect, but for now, she just wants to work
a job for somebody to pay the rent.

She's a smart kid. She was Valedictorian of her high school class and finished
college with a B average. She works well with people and like her dad, she's
not lazy. Oh, and she also has a masters degree. But yes, getting a job in her
field is tough. I don't know how kids today make it.

Anyway, I figured maybe somebody at the forum had some connections. Lots of
IMers have VAs. I figured maybe somebody knew of somebody who was looking
for one. I checked the classifieds again today and can't even find one ad for a
      VA.

Maybe I'll just contact a few of the people I know personally and see if they
can help me. I don't like doing that because, well, I don't like asking for help.
And if it was for me, I wouldn't be. I never have before and I'm not going to
start now. But for my kid, well, there's nothing I won't do for her.

If I had a huge business that needed many people to run it, heck, I'd hire her.
But given that I'm looking to sell it and the last thing I want is to have more
headaches, that's just not an option.

Anyway, if anybody knows of anybody who needs help, please let me know.
      I'd really appreciate it.

Steven, if I had the extra funds I'd hire her,but at this time its not feasible.
    BUT,
If she is a good photographer she could do some freelance work.
I have a friend who does that and while he isn't making a fortune,it certainly is helping him pay the bills.
    Just a thought.
    Good Luck

Why doesn't this surprise me? Of course you would. That's the kind of person
you are. I'm not terribly worried about her. Worst case scenario is she has to
move back home. And while I know she wouldn't be happy about that, it would
      only be temporary.

I remember it took me 1 year to find my first job and that was back in the
early 80s. Today, times are awful.

I don't know how kids do it.

This is NOT the same thing. I don't need money AT ALL. In fact, I have enough
to support my daughter for the rest of her life if she wanted. But I want her to
stand on her own two feet and she has no desire to get into IM, even though it
will give her more money than any stupid job will give her. But this is what she
wants to do with her life and I respect that.

And I totally resent your comments, directed at me or not.

Hi Steve, I really wish I could hire your daughter but my business hasn't grown to that yet. However, I have this friend who is a freelance photographer; she photographed my babies for free. But there are so many people who are willing to pay for baby portraits especially if it's slightly cheaper than the growing rates. She can start with simple fliers and a blog showcasing some of her work ... Oh! and a Facebook page too. It really, really works and it can pay the bills after awhile.

There is some demand for good photographers.

Hope she gets a good gig going soon.
