Adwords Help For Newbie!

Can someone please help me to resolve this Adwords issue?
I have set individual bids for my keywords which I checked in Traffic Estimator and they seemed fine. As its my first campaign I am being careful and just testing the waters so am going for position 4-6 to keep the cost down and see which keywords do well.
When I key in the information to Edit Keywords and try to save, it returns the error "Invalid maximum CPC". Ok, I then put in their suggested bids to get me on the "first page" and it returns the same error!!!! :confused:
ps. I have run a search on this error and it returns nothing...
