I see a lot of users here know their way around internet marketing and promotion quite well. I'm an artist who believes that you can become a success through the internet, and the internet alone. So my question to any and everyone reading is.. How much would it cost to be the "next big thing" on the internet?

I wouldn't necessarily say it’s all just cost involved to become "the next big thing." If you are an artist, you have to create something that a large group of people will enjoy and will be happy to share with their friends. That is how these YouTube sensations make it large. They probably didn't pay a dime to get where they are. Just time and dedication…

It could cost nothing upfront... or millions of dollars upfront, depending on how you do it.

Kreayshawn did it on a shoe-string, I believe, if you are looking at musicians/rappers.

If you only had a little connection through te public library, you could. So the answer is NOTHING! GVE ME A BREAK! A LOT of people have done that, and come close. I was SHOCKED one day to find out that one guy made ONE stupid film spoofing his brother. Just ONE! Today, he hass 2 films on TV, possibly more, ha been on talk shows, has been spofed on disney AND, if he hasn't already, could likely be on disney if he wanted. and that was with NOTHING!

    NO BUDGET
    NO TALENT
    NO BACKING
    ETC...

BTW if you haven't figured it out, disney is probably one of the biggest star vehicles around for kids since practically its very start. They used to only have like a weekly program on a channel that starred like a half dozen kids, that rotated, and perhaps every one has continued on, and some are pretty big stars.
