Credited by most historians and the people of his day...

...as being the first martyr for the American cause at the infamous Boston Massacre on March 5th 1770.

  • Oh, MAN! Did I forget to buy presents AGAIN? I hope the 7-11 is still open...

But thanks, I forget John Adams defended the British soldiers in court - and cousin Sam coined the phrase..."The Boston Massacre" and it was over a barber tab...

Course, it sounds a little different when they tell the story on the House and Senate floors...

      Tensions arose as...

...the lobster-backs ( because of their red coats ) needed winter quarters and forced themselves into the homes of the Bostonians...

      ...thus the saying was born....

"I ask for no quarter and I givith none."

( nowadays it's used for mostly sporting situations )

      and...

The 2nd president was a very serious stickler for the rule of law as he defended the British soldiers in court.

      What a story.

      What an honor.

  • "I ask for no quarter and I givith none."

Exactly! I mean, shave and a haircut...two bits?
That was a pretty good deal!

    (sure beats Supercuts)

  • Hey, two bits is two bits...even adjusted for inflation (or is this case - conflation)

I never had heard of this as far as I remember, but probably did when I was a kid since my family took a tour of the Boston Trail.

Anyway - very interesting and educational post.

Stop that. Didn't you take a shower or eat something to tell us about? My brain will start to hurt again if you keep making us think about stuff.
