Default What do you consider spam?

Curious what is spam to you? Is it junk you don't need, or want maybe a money making scheme etc.

I've been here for a few weeks and posted 5 topics. Anyway someone accused me of spamming the forum.

Isn't this forum used for B.S. and other incidentals or am I mistaken? I provided a discount code for anyone who might like to buy a freaking shirt, tie, coffee mug as a gift or whatever.

So, by personal standards what do you consider spam or might constitute as a spam promo?

I'm here to reek havoc, and steal from the unenlightened.

Hi, KnightOwl, I'm the one that reported your post as spam, even though it didn't come in a can..

Making a post just to advertise your own product is considered spam around these parts. (We forgive you. You didn't know, but you do now, so please, no more. Read the rules, my friend.)

It's okay to list your own site URL in your sig, as you have done, but that's about the only place it's cool.

Yeah, this is the Off-Topic forum, the basement where the crazy people hang out, the bar where we go for a drink after work, where we can talk about all kinds of stuff (but no political or religious stuff. It gets way too hot in here!) but it's not called the Self-Promo forum.

People around here really, really, really hate spammers and any of us can report posts. It's self-moderated and we do pay attention. Just so you know.

Welcome to the WF by the way.

Knightowl -- if you read the responses to your last spam post about the President's sale or whatever it was you already should know what spam is.
This is NOT a free ads forum. This is not the self-promotion forum.
I really don't know how much clearer we can be on that point. If you still
don't understand these concepts you need to google "spam" and do some
intensive reading.

Isn't a forum designed to inform and promote awareness? We are all here in some capacity to gain exposure for our hobbies or businesses.

This is what I call spam: PRESIDENCY
OFFICE OF DIRECTOR DUE PROCESS UNIT
OLD SENATE BUILDING TBS, GHANA.

REF: FGG/PRES/DPU/2005/QTR01/VOL.2

PAYMENT OF YOUR OVER DUE FUND THROUGH DEDUCTION

Dear Sir/Madam

Following directives and mandate this office recieved in respect of your over-due contract fund claim valued at $40million, I am delighted to inform you that your name was in the pay roll on the schedule of payment on the category you belong . Now we are trying to recall back the schedule and in the system, we were made to understand you have not receive your fund, very dishearten that you have not received your fund because in your payment schedule roll, other contractors short listed along side with your name have received their fund since. This made you to benefit from this new payment policy through deduction method.

When we cross examine into our computer diskette analysis data bank we discovered that you have not been paid for this reason your name has been short listed among other contractors whose fund has been over due for payment, who will benefit for deduction payment policy newly introduced.

Therefore, a WAIVER FORM QZ would be sent to you for deduction certificate on your quick response to this mail.. As soon as this certificate is obtain which is for payment free, all necessary upfront payment charges will be deducted from your fund. The certificate is obtainable from the office of Mr president at ACCRA GHANA.

Now, I posted a code for a discount for President's Day for free shipping. Bottom line everyone here is pushing an agenda and I don't appreciate being labeled a jackass spammer.

Are you telling me friends don't let you know what sales are going on or where to find the best deals?

While you have the truth here, forums are also about learning and sharing knowledge. This is an internet marketing forum, not an advertising forum. You're supposed to be here learning and sharing knowledge about the niche.

There are ways you can still promote and expose without spamming, through signature links as an example.

No Knightowl83 - that is not spam that is a SCAM, spread via spamming and a very illegal scam at that.

Right now you're in the bar - where we kick back share a drink or a fattie, and BS. If you take the elevator to the main floor that is where we talk about different ways to earn, techniques, some tech garbage, etc. In between here and there there are different floors for advertising. If you are advertising for work there is a "for hire" floor. If you want to advertise generally there is a classified ad forum, and if you have a real special deal on a product of your own, then there's the Warrior Special Offers forum. If your links are to your own site and not an Affiliate site, they can be posted in your signature.

Now other than that - there is NO advertising here. As you make friends people may end up discussing some of your projects with you, but we don't just advertise. We get to know each other. We go into JV's together, and generally teach and learn.

And that's what Warriors are about. We aren't into hearing about what you're selling. We're really not. We sell stuff too. You think marketers come in here to read commercials? That's what signatures are for. It's only because you have been so clueless about this that you aren't getting completely flamed right now. We roast spammers. And right now in here you are 2 for 0, so you really might as well just learn to chill out around town about your links. You can actually find out about good places to put those in the main forum. In here there's only one place we'll tell you to stick em. Capish?

Now if you are tired of worrying about your stinking links for awhile, pull up a chair and have some fun or go to the main forum and learn where marketing your stuff will actually do you some good.

To me if it's commercial in nature and it wasn't welcomed it is spam.

If it is not commercial but news related whatever the topic and I didn't ask for it it's spam.

If one on one directed to me personally but I get hit repeatedly without showing an active interest then it's spam.

The junk I get in the physical mail box is spam too and sometimes pisses me off more cause I get real mail mixed in with it and I need to go through it to make sure I'm not throwing something important in the garbage. Even just making me have to bother throwing it away annoys me. I don't ask for that crap either. There's no difference but junk mail is legal as far as I know.

Gotta talk to the post office and tell them to stop bringing me that junk.

well anything that is just not targeting the issue is pretty much spamming...or something that is constant and annoying too.

To me, spam is MULTIPLE posting or Emailing of junk that people don't want. I don't really considerate spam to send somebody ONE email about your product or service... if they don't want it, they can delete it.

What's the difference in getting a bunch of crappy fliers in your real mail box at your house and getting an electronic flyer in your email? ...not much if you ask me.
