    Thunderbird - many rights women just took for granted to be their rights are now under political attack. Throughout history, when you get group specific rights attacks happening politically the trolls come out of the woodwork. A LOT of people take political questions about rights of a group to mean that they are free to do whatever they want to that group and it's all just fine and dandy. Gays have also seen a lot more open hatred aimed at them since the issue of gay marriage was raised.

    I don't think you are on target here either. What /how does this come to relate to womens rights? Or gay rights?
    A sick individual abducted a woman and assaulted her and its a rights issue? It would be a crime no matter what sex or nationality or other "group" was involved.

    The guy is a sick psycho and hopefully justice under the law will be metered out., But it has nothing to do with being a middle aged man or a rights issue in my opinion.

      Maybe seems a jump in logic, but not really, Kim. I just jumped the topic a tad. Since the attack on women's rights has started to heat up the women's shelters and crisis centers are going crazy. So it was that background knowledge that made me respond to the post the way I did. Should have explained that better first post I guess.

        Somehow, some individuals take the verbal stances of public figures to inspire and legitimize vicious attacks against perceived targets who may well have been irresponsibly designated as scapegoats for society's ills by those leaders.

        There is no attack on women's rights... that's a giant red herring. Also, I can't speak for all shelters - no one can - but the shelters near me have had their fewest occupants in years.

        As far as middle aged men go - there have always been a number of them that have boorish behavior since the beginning of time. That's where the term midlife crisis came from. But it's not really limited to the middle aged ones...

          They tried to paint those sexual assaults as aberrant incidents -- and they certainly were -- but at least one of the perpetrators was very actively involved in the OWS movement working as "a kitchen worker at the Occupy Wall Street camp in Zuccotti Park."

          You obviously are unaware of some of the legislation going on right now. In, I believe it's GA, they are trying to make it so a woman has to carry even a dead child until it naturally passes. That is, they are legislating something that is extremely dangerous and torturous for a woman. How'd you like to be forced to carry a dead child? And you don't think crap like that isn't an attack on women?

          It's good to hear your shelters are quiet - if they are quiet because there is no violence instead of because there isn't enough funding. As for here - that is not the case. Our shelters are full and overflowing.

      I know that is is a completely unfair comparison. It's usually, "What is happening to today's youth?" Teens are often characterized as a group by the actions of a few malignant ones.

      There's something I just don't get. Not to deflect from the seriousness of what this man has done by any means, but what in the heck is this?

      He was booked into jail on felony counts of kidnapping for purposes of sexual assault, rape by force, and sex with a foreign object.
      I know they couldn't possibly be referring to the woman he raped, so what the heck?

      Did I miss something? :confused:

        They PROBABLY mean that he used a foreign object on HER. I have heard of that charge before, on the news. I don't know where the fun in THAT is, then again, I also don't understand "necrophlia", etc...
