Well...I Gave It A Chance...2 1/2 Men Is Awful

Well, I gave it a chance. I'm not even looking forward to tonight's show.
It's almost unwatchable. It didn't start out too bad, but now it's just...
well, no words.

I think this is its last season but who knows. I have no idea what kind of ratings
it's getting or what the reviews have been like but when my wife has it on
tonight, I'll be half listening while I'm testing out my new Magic the Gathering
decks.

And it's a crying shame too.

    I tried to tell everyone the show sucked after watching the first episode with Ashton Kutcher.

    The problem is Ashton Kutcher still thinks he's 17 years old, & he just looks stupid considering he isn't 17 anymore.

    He was funny on "That 70's Show", but he acts like he hasn't left that character on "2.5 Men".

    As Red Forman would tell Kelso "What's wrong with you, dumbass?".

    Jon Cryer is the only funny guy on the show now. Jake just seems out of place since he isn't the little kid passing air biscuits, lol.

    Bring back Charlie & his meds.

      The bigger problem than Ashton is that the writers aren't giving Cryer
      anything funny to do anymore. The show is more about Ashton and what
      they do give Cryer is just infantile.

      Jake is almost a waste of space now. He's hardly on and has hardly anything
      to do. Berta is the only one who has any funny lines left but she can't carry
      the show.

      And don't even get me started on Cryer's and Ashton's girls. They are a total
      waste of writing.

      Honestly, I don't even think Charlie Sheen could save this show right now.

      I tried watching, but the writing was so bad. The last show I watched they really "jumped the shark" when Ashton's mom shows up and they go and see his long lost gorilla "brother".

      They should have had Jenny McCarthy's character take over for Charlie...Or I still say they could have hired Emillio and just did a Dick York for Dick Sargent-like swap and just pretended nothing changed.

    I stopped watching the show after Charlie got fired. Sounds like I made the right decision I don't like it when main characters get replaced. The orginals are always the best, and that role suited Charlie Sheen absolutely perfectly.

    They never showed Charlie dead, he could come back.:confused:

    I relegated myself to watching reruns on FX because other than Punk'd and being a Cougar's kitten, I don't find Ashton that entertaining either.

    Sheen's character, Charlie Harper -- who was killed off on the season premiere of the CBS hit last fall -- is coming back to the show, albeit in ghost form. And that ghost will be played by "Harry's Law" star Kathy Bates. (I guess Morgan Freeman was booked :p)

    I always found Punkd to be a cruel show, not funny.
    But that seems to be what kids like these days.

    I still like Kucher - I don't think he's being given much to work with.

    Jake has gotten too stupid to be funny any more. It was cute when he was 10 and not supposed to be paying attention to much but the Beavis Butthead thing is just way too much. Allen's girlfriend is about as much fun as cardboard.

    I used to love the writing on this show -- it seems like there are some very hard feelings tucked away in the writing department.

    Sheryl - they did cut his hair. It ruined him. He's not pretty any more and that was one thing going for him even if the writing stinks. At least he was nice to look at.

      The writing has been dreadful. Did these guys forget how to write or are
      they just so sick of doing the show that they're trying to kill it?

      I agree on Allen's girlfriend. In fact, right now the only one on the cast who
      even remotely makes me smile is Berta. Of course the one week with what's
      her name from Mary Tyler Moore was great when she was on camera. She
      really is talented and for the first time since Mary I realize just how much.

      The woman is funny as hell even with bad writing.

      Oh, and recently, she was also on Hot In Cleveland with Betty White.

      Now THAT is a funny show.

        It's got to be Chuck Lorre -

        Imagine this for a moment: Swap the two main characters from 2.5 Men, with "Big Bang"

        Sheldon is played by John Cryer - Leonard by Ashton Kutcher

        Lately, 'Sheldon' has been going off the deep end like Allen...
        and Leonard is an acerbic nerd hoping to be ladies man...

        Easier swap than you imagined at first...huh?

    I like the woman that plays Allen and Charlie's mother. She's a hoot.

    I'm wondering if maybe some of the writers walked when Charlie did and they aren't getting the chemistry they need in the back room. If it's all the same writers, there's definitely more going on than we're hearing about. Kurcher should be an easy write for this part.

    Incidentally - whoever said he couldn't do serious films -- I thought he was great in the Butterfly Effect. That was a terrific movie - and I don't remember him cracking a joke in the whole script.

      Georgette is Georgia Engel, and she primarily always plays the same character, but she has great comedic timing...

      Holland Taylor is Charlie and Allen's Mom. She can, does, and will do anything - capably.

      Allen's girlfriend is Courtney Thorne-Smith - I feel her pain. Her and Conchata Ferrel

      As for Angus, I hear he saves his money - (smarter than he plays.)

      Judy Greer (Waldo's wife) is a good actress - but badly miscast this time (imo)

      Bottom line: I think it's Chuck Lorre's problem - he's the current Norman Lear of TV, and he doesn't care anymore...they'll buy anything.
