I am looking at buying this product. my friends designed it and are out of money and looking for investors. just wanting some feed back on the product. everyone here is so much help, thought i'd see what you guys thought. it's been pitched to apple, best buy, and many more. ready to go big time. just looking for some input on the product.

The site is vibevault.com

There are similar products available in Spain but I don't see much evidence that people actually buy them. It is common to see ipods hanging round necks (even among jewellery) but they don't seem to suffer.

I must say that the web site is very professional and there seems to be a substantial company behind it so, if they need to sell but can't, maybe it is not such a good prospect after all?

A product that has been on the market for more than a year should be well established and, even, sought after.

    Or was this an ad?

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!

Josh, I used to run a pda accessories shop and have sold tens of thousands of cases for PDA, Apple Ipods, and cell phones. In my opinion, it would be alright for you to buy one for your own personal use. But I would stay away from investing in their operation as I think their business prospects are extremely bad. The reaons are as follows

      1. The market for metal cases have been declining in favour of leather and silicone cases for years.

      2. In this environment, very few people would pay $45 for a case, given their ipod is not worth that much. The only case that is compatible in their lineup is that for the Nano, but then again, the competition is very stiff.

      3. There are also issues with the design. The exposed nail heads look unsightly and there may be safety issues involved. Whereas the biggest competitors such as Innopocket and PDAir have a very smooth design made by very expensive CNC machinary.

      4. The large number of colours available would make it retailers to take stock. In this environment, retailers would prefer to take as little stock as possible.

I wish I could give you a better assessment of the situation. But every iPod accessories manufacture I know is in trouble and many will not survive.

Do not get between a wombat and a chocolate biscuit; you will regret it dearly!

Thanks for the advice. Actually when the product was pitched to best buy, apple stores, radio shack, etc. the problem was with the screws. they have a new smooth design that kind of latches and is all integrated.

I see your points though. thanks for the advice again. very helpfull.
