Havent tried one but admittedly their vintage teles look really nice. I have also been tempted by the paisly's... Guitar fanatic here. Japanese strats look really nice.

I believe everyone needs a 52 tele, a mod strat, and 57 ri strat, an es 335 and a black les paul custom in their collection... Les paul personally designed them to look like they were wearing a "tuxedo"

      ...and a taylor 810 and a t5

...um...okay and a fender precision bass, twin reverb amp, bassman amp, and marshall stack...

... and a boss ME 70 multi effects processors (the basics)... and a tubescreamer and echoplex, and expression pedal...

      ...Oh for Gods sake! Okay

      A PRS Custom...

Have we talked about colors, neck radius, tube types, tweed , pickups, playback devices, rack mounted eq's, or recording gear yet?

How about key boards....? Picks? Oh my gosh it never ends.

Just give me a 57 strat and a blues junior...okay and a Boss ME 50 and two cables.

Edit...oh alright; and an amber pick.

(This one is actually mine... Its 50 million years old.)

  • I dunno...if I was to buy that, I just don't think it would play as well for me, as it does for him...

Watching that guy play reminds me an awfully lot of my playing . . . except his guitar is better.

    ...and he doesn't suck.

I just like the JV out of pure nostalgia

My first electric when I was a kid was a JV Squier Strat, the 2nd one ever made.

Wow, the second one ever made? That would be cool to still have. Who knew what a great thing that would be to say later. I grew up with a black strat bullet myself and a peavy bandit amp ... cheapo set up, but I though it was the coolest thing ever.

hey john, what kind of music do you play?

          i play bluesy type stuff.

          I use a Schecter 12 elect / acoustic

whenever i get cranky or over whelmed, or just need a break i play ...

like a fool, a lot of times when i should be sleeping or just taking a nap, i can be found trying out a new lick

It would've been cool to still have but for some reason I sold it to my friend (who never paid me for it) because I felt sorry for him for not having an electric guitar.

Then he traded it for a vocal amp.

          ******* lol

Reminds me of when I was in the Navy. I traded my first really good guitar for a run of the mill acoustic so I could play out at sea. Someone broke into my van and stole the amp, so it was that or nothing.

I wasn't a big strat fan until I heard Ronnie Earl's strat. This has to be one of the sweetest tones to ever come out of one (the YouTube "quality" doesn't do it justice, but you get the idea)...

Use to have this Ken, lost it in the midst of my second divorce... Always said I want to get it back again.... Very nice tele, especially if you want to play classic AND modern. Neck is like butter. Good choice. If I could only have two tele's it would be this and the 52...it would be hard to decide which honestly. This is an AWESOME tele... Maybe the best.

Ken I like it all honestly... Though in recent years my main influence has been Brent Mason... Starting to think strat alot lately though, and blues... after years of being strictly a tele fanatic.

The purist in me wont let me say this Cherry Am Deluxe is the best but it probably is!

You have to celebrate every time you LOOK at this thing almost, I'll bet! Such a great guitar!! This tele has hands down the best neck I have ever witnessed on an electric, just wish it was more amber colored, thats why I bought the first 52 ri, mostly for the neck color...but then for the classic tone.

I might learn to play the damned thing one of these days.
Well, the U's and V's feel different I agree... I like the soft v's these days, but this Am deluxe has got to be the smoothest neck ever made, if you can get past the old necks being so different. This is like jumping out of a an old ford pickup into a Ferrari.

Again, excellent choice, thanks for sharing your beauty!

Ps. Anyone who thinks Mexican tele necks are just as good, has never played an am deluxe with rolled edges... OMG Butter!

You got the abalone inlays too! Cool. Whats the point of such a beauty having only black dots? They put black dots on them this year... total bummer IMO.

$190 per month for ten months...? It might get the best of me...but that wouldnt be so bad would it?:

Fender Eric Johnson Maple Stratocaster Electric Guitar at zZounds

I mean, you have to prioritize, but... This would be so worth it.

Basically this is just a classic 57 with some cool modern amenities... Unlike the Am deluxe, the pickups are more classic sounding than modern,in fact they are the original 57's except for the back one , and its a soft v neck (as opposed to hard v) with less lacquer than original.... also the back pickup is slightly hotter than original 57... I just have never heard such a nice strat tone.. there are a few more changes to make it even more pure...such as no paint between neck and neckplate, no paint in neck jopint to allow wood to resonate better... larger block on trem for better resonance..., but, despite modern changes, this has it all for me re; strats. Still has that classic look tone and mojo!

Wish I would have gotten an earlier one with the amber neck though and abalone... but you still cant complain about this guitar.

Really thinking it over, its inevitable, just timing...will probably do it within weeks. My b day is comin up!

Here's another review: The delay Clean tone on 04:30 is THE selling point for me.

This is another example of that tone:

I like that Strat too. Whenever I don'y play the piano, I play "shredder" (me and my buddies' term for guitar) LOL

It's a shame, though I want to share with you guys my Guitar. I cant post any links or pix yet but It's a pre-made guitar but still inherits the Strat custom design.

Here's another strat sound, not to mention all the pop and funk sounds, r&b, that you can get with it. Much of Stevie Rays sound is also because he used very heavy gage strings. Heaveir than most strat players would want to use. Talk about tearing up your fingers.

and who can forget this guy...who also has his own signature model...

Oh how I wish Stevie Ray was still making music. And before anyone says anything, I mean here on earth.

Malmsteen just makes it look too easy.

Here's another guy that knows a thing or two about playing a Fender...

Hey John and anyone else interested...

This isn't all about Strats, but here's a very cool clip of Jeff Beck talking about some of his favorite guitars:

If Jeff Beck says it, or plays it then its okay in a strat thread; he is the Strat poster child. Part man, part Strat.

Dang! Not just the notes themselves, but his actual touch sounds like Hendrix. maybe not so much Vocals, but it sounds like Hendrix on the strat, feel and all.
