I like calling my subscribers "cupcake", "dove", "sunshine", and "lovelies" instead of just "hey friend"....but is it silly or insulting to call the male subscribers those name-calling?

Where i am from , if a guy calls another guy "cup cake" its fighting words.

never heard a woman do it, so i am not sure how that would go over.

Does everyone in your list know your a female? if not...

  • "Cupcake", you might get away with - Just don't call them "Twinkie"

I like "Lovelies"...it's kind of Clockwork Orange...in a Droogie sort of way -

I wouldn't call it silly or insulting, but I would call it presumptuous. Depending on the demeanor of the rest of your message, I may well view it as an attempt to manipulate me, which would mean that unless your emails offered incredible value I'd probably unsubscribe before too long.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

The more I think about it...if injecting your personality into what you do normally helps you sell more, then it could be beneficial.

Usually calling a guy sunshine is being sarcastic.

For instance, my son very seldom wakes up in a good mood (grouchy for about the first 1/2 hour), I'll sometimes say "Good morning sunshine", lol, get's him stirred up.
