COLLOIDAL SILVER GENERATOR - Does anyone here have any experience with this?

As the thread title asks - can anyone here advise me on this, or point me in the right direction?

I just paid $24.99 + tax for 6 ounces of Colloidal Silver....for the dog! I would like to try this stuff myself.

I would really appreciate any feedback on this, as I would be interested in making my own - for myself and the dog. :p

Thanks,
Jody & Riley!

    Jody,

Silver IS supposed to be antibiotic. It is harmless BUT, taking too much for too long can give your skin an odd look. Of course, if the same thing happened to your dog nobody would even know. Here is an article about it in wikipedia... Argyria - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia All I am saying s don't start taking it daily for long periods.

3M - Reading the info almost makes me want to stick to purchasing the stuff off the shelf (yet, what is the actual concentration etc, etc, etc. of the purchased stuff?).

Maybe what I really need is just a reputable supplier that I can trust. The problem for me is, I've never purchased this sort of drug (?) through the internet.

    Thanks for the links.

Technically, you could argue that it isn't a drug at all. Colloidal only refers to how the molecules are suspended in solution. It has little real meaning. So it really IS just silver. And that has been shown to help counter bacteria, etc... Since it really doesn't diagnose, treat, or cure a disease, the FDA definition doesn't really apply, and it isn't used by the body to do whatever, so it could be said t not apply there. I HAVE taken it, and my skin is fine, but I heard about what COULD happen, and don't generally take it. Like I said, don't worry about your dog. The skin is different, and wouldn't show the coloring. I don't believe it causes ANY other effect.

I've used colloidal silver on my dog recently to help with a persistent skin infection. I too bought it already made but I do know that you can 'generate' as you say it yourself, the only problem would be ensuring it is done correctly I suppose. Oh and the skin turning silver was pure propaganda from the mainstream media - you would have to drink gallons and gallons of the stuff as well as rubbing it into you skin ten times per day for that to happen and even then, that's the only side effect, hardly comparable to some of the lovely side effects we see with western drugs...

I've SEEN people that had it, the medical industry says it happens, etc.... It can happen just by drinking the stuff. And NOBODY says it will happen with moderate use.

            This is incorrect, Steve.

            Many
professors of nutritional medicine, mineral metabolism and other relevant clinical specialties, some of whom have spent decades of their professional lives studying such things, and trying to treat the patients affected by it, say that it commonly happens with "moderate use", and even sometimes with less than "moderate use".

This is simply factual: I've actually heard them saying it, myself.

Nothing personal, of course, but given their qualifications, experience and scientific objectivity, I think you can understand my preferring their shared impression to your own, on that point, Steve?

The popularity of colloidal silver has produced a dramatic worldwide increase in the diagnosis of argyria and other silver-toxicity problems even among people taking moderate doses. These products are now banned in some countries and unlicensed/unregulated in others.

No double-blind, controlled clinical trial has ever demonstrated any benefit of colloidal silver to humans.

One person's "trace element" is another person's "heavy metal toxin", apparently: it's kind of bizarre, given the hysteria about alleged micro-doses of mercury in some vaccines, that some of the very same people propagandizing the "anti-mercury campaign" are also the ones recommending (and in some cases even promoting!) "colloidal silver".

The reality, as anyone will tell you who has ever studied the subject scientifically, is that they're both unnecessary, entirely devoid of any beneficial function in the human body, and potentially toxic. Silver apparently very much more so than mercury, given the quantities of each currently in use.

Alexa, ***I*** first brought up this concern! Perhaps your interpretation of moderate is different from mine. By moderate, I man sporadically like every few months or so. To quote the mayo site you pointed to:

"It's not clear how much colloidal silver may be harmful, but it can build up in your body's tissues over months or years. Most commonly, this results in argyria (ahr-JIR-e-uh), a blue-gray discoloration of your skin, eyes, internal organs, nails and gums. While argyria doesn't pose a serious health problem, it can be a cosmetic concern because it doesn't go away when you stop taking silver products."

In short, I am saying that a few times likely won't hurt but why risk it. I told waterotter that her dog may be safe, but she may not.

The popularity of colloidal silver has produced a dramatic worldwide increase in the diagnosis of argyria and other silver-toxicity problems even among people taking moderate doses. These products are now banned in some countries and unlicensed/unregulated in others.

I had heard that silver IS antibacterial. FORGET the cold, hiv, etc... garbage, it won't help THERE. And silver certainly is NOT as bad as mercury.

Want to hear a nasty secret? Stores USED to, and still MAY, sell a sugar confection that kids, including ME, LOVED! It has a WARNING on the actual product that NEVER got transferred to the cakes, cupcakes, candies, etc... that used them! The warning was that they were not to be consumed! What are they? Silver nonpareils.

Do you think kids ate them? TAKE A GUESS!!!!!!! OF COURSE WE DID! And NOBODY got argyria. Of course, most people were limited in several ways. It wasn't likethey would eat many bags of them.

But you and I are REALLY saying the same thing. I DON'T take Silver. I ALSO don't take ibuprofen.

According to some experiments, it's been shown to be - marginally - in vitro, in petri dishes, under laboratory conditions - and so have many other heavy metal toxins. But it's never been shown to be in humans (and not for want of looking/trying/testing!).

I know ... but they have about 1/1,000th of the quantity of silver in them that one small dose or spray of these dangerous "colloidal silver" products has - numerically, there's really no comparison at all.

I know of one product that is called the new silver solution that I buy and never want to be without. The manufacturers have "proof" studies (the only ones) on the many ways it helps people. Personally, it stops my cankor sores, ear infections in my grandson, bad stomach ache. It's shipped to Africa where it cures malaria in couple of days. I highly recommend this product.

I have done a lot of reading on colloidal silver in the past few days. I have yet to read a negative review by somebody who has actually used this product.

Alexa posted some great links. The first link for WebMD had about 62 great remarks from people who have used it - all positive feedback, although it's considered unsafe according to the medical community.

I have seen some great improvement in my dog. I simply put some colloidal silver in a glass dish and set it next to her water dish. She lapped it right up!

After watching 16x9 - The Bigger Picture - Bitter Pill, I'm fearful of ever taking another prescribed antibiotic. I was prescribed Cipro on 2 occasions. I have RA, so just thought it was getting worse - but after watching this - it puts to rest many questions I had as to why the RA meds are no longer effective in alleviating some of the chronic pain.

I have tried many alternative remedies without any success. So, if I do get some relief using colloidal silver - to me, the benefits far out way any risks as quality of life is what it boils down to for myself.

Dunno - never used it or researched it. Never thought about it. I know copper will keep bacteria from growing on anything. I can see how silver might as well - but that's topically - on any surface. I'd study it down pretty hard before putting it in my mouth or giving it to Ricky (dog). Usually there are very good items to use for an illness that have little or no overdose potential - and no known toxicity and I like to stick with those things. It doesn't make sense to me to risk toxic reactions if you don't have to. If it's the only thing you can use for a condition, then read up real hard - not just "websites" -- go to pubmed and find the unadulterated, unedited research on the item. That's probably the safest source of info you can get on using anything medicinally, while avoiding propaganda put out by phramaceutical concerns that might not want ya to know about something awesome.

I'm into alternative health supplements, but I'd be a little cautious about anything that contains metals. As Steve mentioned, people who take colloidal silver over a long period of time can have side effects. I've seen pictures of people whose skin actually turned silver! On the other hand, that's really taking large doses. It might be effective as a treatment for certain conditions, when taken for a short time.

I don't believe it, but some people think that using a silver spoon may have the same antibiotic effect.

Some say that's where the phrase, "Born with a silver spoon in his mouth" came from. They think it's the silver spoon that provided the health benefits. I don't see the logic though. One can say just living in a mansion also has health benefits.

Then again, I don't know enough about trace minerals and their health effects to offer any meaningful advice on the subject.

Kim, if you haven't already, watch the video. This is a very dangerous group of antibiotics that can cause permanent damage in some people. Cipro is just one of the drugs mentioned.

I was prescribed Cipro once and within twenty minutes of taking the first pill had a severe allergic reaction where literally all of my skin became red, puffy and itchy and it burned like heck! Ugghhh!

I had to do a ten day prescription of steroids to counteract it.

I use colloidal silver in liquid and gel form for various conditions. I do not use it on a daily basis and order from reputable sources. I have never researched making it myself though. I had rather just buy it from companies that utilize good quality control and standards. Easier than trying to figure it out for myself.

I like that it is effective for numerous issues and doesn't disrupt the natural flora of the stomach like antibiotics.

They used to drop it in babies' eyes immediately after birth to prevent a certain type of infection that they can get. All reports I've seen indicate that it worked well.

We put it in my partner's eyes when she got a strep or other type eye infection (never put contact lenses in your eyes when your hands are dirty and you are camping in a field that has horse dung!), cleared it right up in 24 hours.

I dropped some into my nose and ran it through my sinuses just today, in fact, in an effort to knock out a cold that is trying to come on. We'll see if it works this time.

I cannot believe that occasional use is in any way dangerous.

Per my previous post, my certified herbalist does have a lot of
things for RA. Probably best you consult locally.

Also, I'd suggest consulting a local DO (Doctor of Osteopathy) and/or naturopathic doc.
