What can I do to speed up my laptop? It seems sites with video makes it slow, unresponsive and lock up sometimes. After a minute or 2 it starts to run fine.

Its about 3 years old and I currently am running Norton 360 internet security, so it gets cleaned up on a regular basis.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Looks like the culprit was Superantispyware and saskutil.sys. Found out after a littlesearching. Got rid of it all and everything appears to be fine. Thanks.

Usually I do some disk cleanup and deleting unnecessary files, and somehow it helps a bit

That's just so you can pretend you're watching porn at the drive in.

My brother clued me into this pretty awesome way to speed up any computer. Type MSCONFIG in the RUN box on windows. There are tons of services and start up programs that run in the background and EAT at your memory and slow your computer down. You can also use this window to check and see how much of your CPU is being used by these services/programs and shut off a few that are bogging you down.

Case and Point: He was having trouble zoning in Everquest (an online game) and he unchecked a few things on the services menu that were using a large amount of his CPU, and it cut down his zoning from 1 minute to 5 seconds.

Obviously, know what the services are before you shut them off. But usually about 25% of them are borderline useless, especially with windows 7. Hope this helps!

It certainly wouldn't hurt to download more RAM.

I'd bet there's a fair amount of people that fall for that. It might be surprising how many do.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Try to defragment your computer drives and restart the computers. You may see at least a little bit improvement in the operation speed of your computer.
