over hyped movie! Am I the only one who thinks it? It looked like it was made for Twilight fans.

I saw it with the kid and was awakened/nudged by my daughter at least 3 times during the movie.

She would let me sleep but my snoring disturbs the rest of the folks in the theater.

What a society. ( in the movie )

I have the same resentments. Maybe I just expected to much after reading the book. I am somehow used to movies like that but the fact that they omitted something important from the book is very disappointing. Some scenes are boring too. lol sorry for the movie's fans out there.

It's the second time I've heard of this today.

No doubt I'll hear about it 20,000 more times before it dies.

The Avatar fad was absolutely torturing.

I saw it (was completely bored) and preferred the Japanese film "Battle Royal" (which I still think was ripped off by the Hunger Games); I suspect that the Hunger Games is popular because of the "experience" it offers - a shared "experience" to be more specific - that lets people feel as though they are part of a larger community.

Battle Royal kicked a$$! but hunger games was decent as well, I think everyone liked hunger games so much because of the added love story, battle royal just kinda throws you into the carnage...

I'm writing entertainment articles for a girl's magazine, and I can tell you that girls LOVED it. Since the movie premiere, they've been in love with Miley's boy. Well, he's better than those 1D boys, don't you think?

I haven't seen the movie yet, but seriously, their pre-launch campaign was huge. Lots to learn.

Totally agree The Running man and Battle Royale were both better films

I am sure if I was a 14 yo girl though I would probably love it

I actually liked the movie, and the books. Though I think it sucked it was forced to be "watered" down to PG-13, the next two books are way way more violent so don't know how that will work. I know they want to cater to more teens thinking parents are more apt to bring them to the movies then an R, but with how many kids actually read the books they'd have no trouble with attendance at an R rated version. Hopefully the next two are R rated and really show how violent the books were.

Kinda like the next Expendables movie, the sequel was going to be PG-13 but way too many people bitched including the actors especially Stallone, that the studio caved and went with an R version, a PG-13 watered down version of that movie would have sucked.

I enjoyed it. But then I liked the books. So much of the book revolved her internal thoughts and how she reacted to her situation. That was all lost in the movie.

As always, the books were far better than the movie. But then maybe I think like a 14 year old girl...lol. I hated the twilight movies, though.

  • I got a copy of the book at the library to see what all the hype is about...so far, just the names of the protagonists were enough to make me wonder...it didn't sound real unique in plot...

It is hard to make a good movie true to a book, or different, but just as good...

but it's often harder to turn a bad book into a good movie

Ya, I thought it was somewhat similar to another movie that came out about a couple of years ago called "captive" or "captor".

Haven't watched it and know little about it ... except, didn't I hear that it is to be a trilogy? And somewhere else, Woody Harrelson said he had signed on to do FOUR films?

    Oh, dear. lol

You didn't like it? I was shocked when I saw Woody Harrelson in the movie - for some reason I just think he's a great actor!

I absolutely loved the movie. I'm surprised you didn't like it... it's kind of scary to think how it might parallel our society in today's day and age.

I would agree that it was a bit overhyped, but other than the over-used shaky cam, it was a decent movie. I also watched Battle Royale, but of course, that'd be R-rated instantly. I think they did a good job with playing within the PG-13 rating. If you want to talk about sucky movies, there are lots, especially in the pre-summer movie lull.
