when they started talking about the longevity of the song Louie Louie on the charts. here is one paragraph from the article:
If you checked out the "Louie Louie" link I sent earlier this week, you will see there is tons of "Louie" information that Eric Proedehl has gleaned over the decades. I did extensive chart research for his film project. The SONG charted for many years in a row locally. From mid-63 thru 1966, I chronicled its local chartings. Certainly, 1963 and 1964 had many and 1966 also had a resurgence, but in '65, it became a biggie top 10 on KOMA in OKC (Larry, remember?) and in So-Cal also! Oddly, 1967 did not hold it, but I give the option that 1967 DID give us the VERY similar hit "Beg, Borrow and Steal" by the Ohio Express, so the Louie is always in transition, it would seem. What a true garage rock gem for the ages. Maybe it should be the first SONG entered into the RNR Hall of Fame??

Of course, what I found interesting was that was the time I was a pre-puberty kid and that was the only AM radio station we could receive,so that station was my only source of music back then.
That paragraph brought a flood of memories back to me.

Just had to share a nostalgic moment.

Wasn't KOMA a "superstation" back in the day? I think I could get that (at night) back in Iowa.

By the way, was that Michael Oksa's music newsletter?

No, I didn't know Michael Oska had a music newsletter, wonder why he never told me

KOMA might have been considered one, after I posted that I also realized that at night when the skys were really clear I could sometimes pick up WLS in Chicago. To a young boy the very thought of geting music from that mythical city was mindbending .

This is called Forgotten Hits . I've posted the link several times over the years.Give me a few and I'll get it posted here for anyone interested.

Back with the link. I look forward to reading this.Today's issue was mostly about the 2012 RnR Hall of Fame inductees

I had forgotten that. The field behind my parents house was about the highest spot on the road we lived on. On those clear nights I could park my old '64 Ford at the edge of that field and pull in WLS on the AM....

Me and my old neighborhood pals would sit for HOURS and listen to tunes in that little field...

Kim, here's his site if you're interested: Rock and Roll Lyrics Videos Reviews Songs More

He sends his newsletter out sporadically, but it's a good read when it comes. Michael knows a LOT about music history.

      Yes he does.
He used to join in when myself and Steven would do music trivia threads.
here in the OT forum we have a collective encyclopedic knowledge of music.

I went and visited Michael's site, I think I saw it when he first put it up but I don't remember a email sign up back then. But I very well may have just missed it.

I hope you go and sign up at the link I posted.I think you'd like it.

Not sure which I like more, Louie Louie or 96 Tears. Okay, they're both my favorite garage rock tunes.

For those of us who were playing in garage bands in the 60's, Steppin' Stone by the Monkees was always a favorite tune.

You probably bought a "super bubble" album set off television or something where the two songs were anchored together for you mentally, if you trace it back.
