These are just crappy cell phone shots, but they are of the female Moose that's in the neighborhood.
I took them at a friends house about a 1/4 mile from my house.
The first pic she is the first dot to the right of the telephone pole.
She looks small in the other pics cause I wasn't in to getting up close and personal with her, but she stands about 6ft. at her front shoulders.
I just wish I could of gotten a pic of the Peregrine Falcon I saw a couple hours earlier at the top of my road.

Sal, that's why I say I live in the country

Thanks, Thom. It's always interesting to see wildlife.

We have moose passing through our yard on the rare occasion, but we have deer here several times every day. Some of the neighbours (in the new subdivision next door that replaced our nice forest) stop and take pictures of them.

I'd bet it's been over 100 years since there where moose in my area.
I'm only about 10 miles or so from Albany, NY as the crow flies.
Deer on the other hand are as common as mud here.
I have a small heard that beds down in back of my house daily
The Falcon was new to me around here also.
Hawks are very common and eagles are becoming very common also.
The other day I saw 3 turkey vultures sitting on a front lawn. They where in a circle about two feet apart just staring at each other.
Black bear are becoming a nuisance about 10 miles east of me.
I think it's great to see all the wildlife around here now. They all make such better neighbors then people

Right click and open in a new tab, Kim.

Thom - Not quite my idea of country, but room enough to not get claustrophobic.

I'm trying to figure out where that is. Is that on the road that runs by the stream you get to from the road at the top of the hill?

That was right across the road from John and Laurie's house
The first picture I took from Johns front yard, that's his beagle barking at the moose.

    Hey, Thom:

Deer are common here, too, and since the developers cleared so much land around us, more deer have been spending even more time on our land. It helps that we put sunflower seeds out daily for the wild birds - the deer love it, too! lol

Haven't had the pleasure of seeing falcons or turkey vultures, but we do see hawks and the occasional bald eagle. Black bears are in the area and visit our yard occasionally.

Your turkey vulture story reminds me of the old joke about two vultures in the desert and one of them says something like, "Patience my a**! I'm going to kill something!"

I'd watch my back, if I were you, Thom. LOL

One of those critters ran in front of my car a couple weeks ago in Park City. It was at night, and I would have hit it if I had not been slowing for a red light. They are big, a thousand pounds of stupidity!

It was headed east across the main highway towards an area behind the 7/11 at the "blue roof" if any of you know Park City. That happens to be a residential area, and the moose had a couple miles to go before reaching open country.

There are thousands of square miles of forest near-by, I guess this one wanted to be in a subdivision.
