Welcome to the Terrible Two's -

I can see the wheels turning in that first picture - 'what can I get into next'?

Just kidding and I won't even say - Terrible Twos end at Twenty One -

    All the best!

Congrats on such a handsome boy and that cake looks delicious!
Here's a little song I started singing when my boys turned two. It's silly but kids like silly and it made potty training easier.

    Happy Birthday to You
    Because you're a cutie
    Now that you're two
we use the pot for your doody!

      Thanks!

The cake was good. It's from the bakery of a Chinese supermarket called T&T (a chain all over Canada. It would probably do well in some cities in the US: http://www.tnt-supermarket.com/en/index.php?) They know how to get just the right balance of sweetness and body in their cakes.

Great! He loves little songs and his mommy collects little songs to sing to him. Is it sung to the tune of Happy Birthday?

The Happy Birthday tune works but it can be any tune that you guys like and You can change the first line from "Happy Birthday to you" -> "Good Morning to you" and it works all year or until one of you gets tired of it

He's really cute. Ken is right, you're a lucky guy. That second picture is kind of an optical illusion though. I take it he's on his knees behind that slide toy thingie. I'm like, where are his legs? lol

But Tbird, tell me, why do you have "Free Dennis Gaskill" underneath your user name? What in the world are you on about?

I saw it for the first time a few days ago. I think I waited a day, maybe two, to see if anyone else said anything first. I did mention it in another thread you posted in yesterday or the day before, but apparently you never went back to that thread, or if it you did it was after I lost track of it.

Now I wonder if anyone else noticed it?

Yeah I noticed it - but I got sidetracked and never asked. I figured I would run across the answer in a thread but not.

I noticed it but thought it was an inside joke between the two of you.

Nope, we didn't make the cake ourselves. We ordered it from the bakery of T&T, a Chinese supermarket chain in Canada (owned by Loblaw Companies Ltd). T&T cakes are very good, with no weird ingredients. We did make the baby ourselves.

    Congrats!!

    Enjoy your son.

    BTW...

You could take a picture of the two of you side by side on each of his birthdays.

It will be a lot of fun to look back at in the future.

I'll keep photos of us together for him to see in the future, but not for the world to see, lol. I don't enjoy being in front of the camera, but he's ok with it. He seems to like the way he looks and enjoys looking at his photographs. We were at the shoe store to buy him a new pair of shoes and it was not easy to get him away from looking at himself in the shop mirror to try shoes on. The pretty blonde sales lady did manage to get his attention and convince him to try shoes on. He was apparently quite enchanted by her, lol.

    Happy Birthday!

Looks like that your genes haven't completely overpowered your wife's. At least she won't complain of losing out completely as many Chinese wives do!

I wasn't aware that many Chinese women (or Chinese fathers of mixed-race kids) complained of this. Such complaints are not made within reach of my ears, LOL. Some Eurasian kids are surprisingly Caucasian looking, for sure. Some are even blonde. I know a Chinese woman from Guangdong whose two sons are blonde with no obvious Chinese traits. It seems that blonde hair doesn't have to be be on both sides of the family for a child to have blonde hair, but I imagine there is some Turkish and other backgrounds in the Chinese genetic pool due to border regions, Genghis Kan's spread in China, and other factors.
