I have done some abstract stuff.

Oil paints are an amazing medium. Have you used them?

I wish I could. Just haven't got the "knack" for it.

If you are interested, I recommend that you take a class, get a book, or simply buy some paints, brushes and canvases, and start practicing. Practice, practice practice. Everyone has to start somewhere. The colors of oil paints can be quite vivid!

I prefer to work with Acrylics on parchment but I've used the oil paint sticks. I have nothing against oil paints but I don't particularly like working on canvas and oils don't adhere to the parchment well.

What sort of stuff do you paint? What is your subject matter?

Whatever moves me plus I also dabble with a little charcoal sketching.

I'm a big fan of Escher and Dali but I'm not as surreal (not yet). I haven't painted anything for a few months and I do miss it but I haven't felt the inspiration.

I began painting the usual like trees, my cat, a house but I got bored recreating the world as it was and started painting my version of it. Sometimes I'll try to interpret a dream and other times it's my take on person or object.

Over the past decade, my work has taken on a lighter tone. Around 1997-99 it was really dark. Perhaps I had some latent issues to work out.

I like oil but now days prefer Acrylic and mixed media. Here's some old oils I did when I was a teenager:
Did this one when I was 16.

          I was 18 when I did this.

Did this one when I was about 14

No, oil is so expensive these days so I can't afford it.

I used to ... and i like them, but I find them so inconvenient, with all the cleaning stuff, and such a nuisance, and I've more or less switched to acrylics. "For now", anyway ...
