Went to the zoo today for my grandsons 3rd birthday.

It's impossible not to have a good time with a 3 year old.
It's also impossible not to have fun at the zoo.

Put them together and you're guaranteed a great time.
Add his 2 year old sister and it's miraculous!

Fed the Giraffes, the Gibbons were particularly active;
The Indian Elephants weren't moving but the African Elephant with his huge tusks came right to us.

Missed the Rhinos and Gorillas though.

2 and 3 year olds wear out pretty quickly.

Zoos have really come a long way during my life time. When I was a kid, they were basically just a bunch of cages with bars for the animals. Now, they at least try to give the animals decent living conditions and simulate their natural habitats.

We went to the Cincinnati zoo.
We live about 25 north of Cinci.
As far back as I can remember it's always been a great zoo.
I believe it's rated as the 2nd best zoo in the country, after the San Diego zoo.
It's also nick-named the 'sexiest' zoo in the world because of their success rate with animal births. Particularly endangered species.

I was a little disappointed we missed the Great Apes and Cats.

But, on the other hand, how often do get a chance to feed a Giraffe?

Zoo is nice place for little kids.
Animals around them are friendly and some
are not because it is wild.

After we left I asked my grandson which was his favorite animal.
    He said, "The train".
They have a little train that runs through the zoo and he's crazy about trains. :-)

The "Australian Zoo" here in Australia allow you to pat alot of the animals, you can also feed an elephant and the staff are in some enclosures playing with them.
    Its an Awsome experience.
