Seth Godin just made a blog post where he talks about how most people buy into make money online schemes just to be a part of the ride itself:

Seth's Blog: Get rich quick

[..] t's the belief in riches, the thrill of finding just the right deal, the challenge of getting a relative to loan you money one more time. It's the frisson of excitement from sending in the money, the rush of impatience that follows as you wait for the package, and then the scary moment when you open the package and come face to face with your dreams.
What do you think? Does he have a good point, or is his just painting a cliché which only applies to a few?

he makes a point, but im not sure how valid it is.
I mean, its a bit obvious, isn't it? OF COURSE most people love the thrill...
It's called hope... and everybody loves to get some of THAT product, no matter how you package it.

I agree! But there still are good and valuable courses out there which works if you actually put in some hard work to implement it in your business.

I guess "internet marketing" / "internet money making" courses are like anything else that's fun; there's always the risk of getting addicted :p

His own scheme is doing pretty darn good right now, its called Squidoo.

Does he realize how many people try and fail at Squidoo?

I agree above, its all about a glimmer of hope and trying.

It did not get where he was by being stupid, but for him to post that makes me wonder.

this may sound a bit ironic coming from this source, but in CORE Influences, Frank Kern poses that we don't want the thing.. we want the experience that thing gives us. So, we don't really want a Ferrari, we want the experience of owning a Ferrari.

A lot of times, I think people chase things, and when they get it, and it doesn't fulfill them anymore, they chase new things. It's healthier to realize that you're chasing the experience, not the thing. That perspective will re-adjust your living a little.
