Hello all, I need some opinions and some guidance right now. I've been thinking about ways i could make money online with the hobby i like to do (Photoshop), but I'm unsure how to go about it... I have been practicing on photoshop for quite awhile now I even been to school for graphic design. I had an idea to put up kinda like a progression portfolio site where I could show all of my pictures from day one when I started learning until now. some of my family also gave me the idea of providing a service for doing something simple like retouching photos for a small fee. Do you think this is a good idea to get started with? Any tips you might have if in fact it is a good idea? Any recommendations on website building and other things? If I'm able to do this could i do affiliate related to this? I'm not a professional but i just thought i could put my progress on a website for people who my like my work and might want me to do something simple for them if they couldn't do it. Thanks for your help.

    Hi QuittaC

That is certainly doable. You could start with by creating a website with Content Management System such as Wordpress, Joomla!, and Drupal (there are lots of others too).

The easiest way to do it might be with a *free* Wordpress (don't waste money on Thesis or some dumb premium theme) and a *free* gallery plugin (eg WordPress › NextGEN Gallery « WordPress Plugins)
Step 1. Register a domain. Godaddy is good enough for this. To make it cheaper, use a discount code when you get to the checkout. Search google for godaddy discount codes. May be different for different countries.
Step 2. Host the domain. Hostgator.com is a good one for this.
Step 3. Install wordpress on your domain. Lots of videos on YouTube on how to do this.
Step 4. Upload install the Wordpress plugin on your domain.

Chances are you know someone who knows someone who can personally help you. However, if you're feeling totally lost about this, let me know

        Hi,

Another option would be to do it with Joomla + Phoca Gallery, this is what I use for all the websites I build that need a photo gallery and it works very well with a nice render. You can see it in action on my website, look in the top menus for my blog templates and my review about the OTO Secret Weapons they both use it.

        Seb.

PS: On a side note, since what you intend to promote is very visual, I would consider Pinterest if I were you.

Do you use Facebook ? Then you can make money just by inviting people to a Facebook group ! It's called the Instant Income System. How cool is that?
