The show is going to hell in a hand cart, but talent is still talent.

Kathy Bates NAILED Charlie Harper as "she" came back from hell in tonight's
episode. Give a talented actress even mediocre material to work with and she
can do wonders.

It was probably the funniest episode of the season, though that's not saying
much.

Kathy, I remember you from Misery. You wielded a mean knife. I realize tonight's
performance was just for laughs, but you played it like the pro that you are.

You saved what could have been the stupidest script ever written.

Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with us once again.

I liked it. Always been a fan of Kathy but I would have preferred Charlie (which I know is impossible).

  • What...she nailed it? Are you she didn't 'hobble' Charlie?

I happened to catch it last night Steve and you are right.
The rest of the show stunk I thought.

I have yet to see one episode since they killed off Carlos Estevez

I catch the reruns a few times a week. Some classic episodes there.

It's the last series of House - there aren't many episodes to go, now, and you guys are talking about Two And A Half Men? :p

I liked Martin Sheens' son better. Walden is just not doing it for me!

Way too Highbrow for this crowd, Ma'am.

Personally,I have enough real drama in my life, to be drawn into the make believe kind.

Watch the comedies for an escape,ya know?

I'm really disappointed in the writing for this show. The kid has turned into nothing but beavis and butthead revisited. Ashton can be extremely fun - but his lines aren't cutting it. Alan is the same douche, but doesn't get the same play because of the lack of genius in Ashton's scripts - and Allen's girlfriend is just a drag. Other than her, I think the show has hella potential - but it seems time for new writers. New writers could save the show I'm pretty sure.

I agree. The writing has been dreadful. But as much as I hate to admit this,
the chemistry between Ashton and Jon just isn't what it was between Charlie
and Jon. Add to that, the kid is almost a waste of air space now (which is sad
because he used to have some funny stuff to do) and the girl friends have
absolutely NO anything (and I'm a guy no less saying this) and the show is just
a bomb. It's so sad to see what's happened to it.

When Berta's on, she's still a trip. She's probably the funniest one on the
      show now.

Cryer has become a caricature of himself. In other words, the poor shlub
who can't get out of his own way and whose life is a mess just isn't funny
      anymore.

I think the show could have worked if Charlie had left all his money to Allen and come back as Kathy Bates.

Many of you may remember an old movie: "Goodbye Charlie" with Debbie Reynolds and Tony Curtis.
Tony Curtis' best friend "Charlie" is just like Charlie Harper. He drowns and comes back in Debbie Reynolds body.

That probably would have been funnier as an inside joke, and as a 'hommage' to the movie - using Debbie Reynolds instead of Kathy Bates...

Kathy Bates is a fine actress, and good in her own show (Harry's Law)

But I don't see her becoming a spokesmodel for Nat Nast anytime soon...

I say Jenny McArthy's character should have swindled her way into owning Charlie's house. Ashton's character is too nice. They need some mean and in a lot of ways, McArthy's character was more "Charlie" than Charlie was.

A major problem with the show is they added new characters that aren't interesting and dropped/reduced old characters, like Rose, Mom and Berta.

  • Maybe Charlie and Rose should have come back like the ghosts in the movie "Topper"...with Allen as the only one who can see them...I mean, as long as they are going to rip off premises...at least use successful ones -

    • After tonight's season finale...

So - is Angus Jones the next "Gomer Pyle"?

And since NBC cancelled Kathy Bates' show "Harry's Law" (BIG mistake)...is she now Charlie forever?
