The Great Dream Share Experiment

Someone just posted in another thread about dream sharing. It seems that over and over again I hear people interested in the mysteries of dreaming. So I thought maybe it would be interesting to run a Dream-Sharing experiment.

Here's how it would work.

Pick a partner to share a dream with.
Choose a message you want to deliver or something you want to give your partner, etc.
Then PM me with what you have decided.
The next day - tell us the results - if you think you shared the dream - what the other person gave you, where you
saw them, what they said to you, etc.
Then pm me again and tell me what happened.
Then we match that up with what you pm'd to me the day before and your partners experience.
No cheating - no talking to each other about it at all. If it's not real, it's no fun, and no help.

NOTES:

Pick a partner you already know a bit. Being on the same wavelength helps.

First, if your real picture is not in your avatar - email one to the other person. It is easier to connect if they have a correct visual image of you to concentrate on.

Pick a time you will take a nap or go to bed - if you aren't sleeping at the same time this can't work. When you set up a time make sure to figure your time zones.

When you lay down to go to sleep, relax, and visualize a light bulb in your head - Make sure it is a lavender light - Lavender produces alpha waves. Don't visualize deep purple, it will put you to sleep. If you have trouble visualizing this color, start with seeing the light as red, switch the light off and switch it back on to orange, then switch it off again and see yellow - repeat with green and blue - and lavendar last (if you have seen a blacklight, that is lavendar).
Now you are in alpha waves and want to visualize your partner - and where you want to see them, what you want to say to them, give them ....whatever you pm'd to me.

Now - you may see that person in your dream because you have been concentrating on them. That doesn't mean you were dream sharing. Having the same experience of the dream is when you have a hit.

A partial hit is possible. Perhaps the person wants to give you a milk shake - and you dream about milkshakes even though you don't see your partner. There is a a chance factor - but you may have gotten some of their waves.

There are also possibilities of a partial hit that isn't immediately obvious because your subconscious mind works on a different symbology than the conscious mind - but if something isn't immediately apparent, we can discuss it a bit and see if there is a consensus of a partial hit.

You may not remember the dream - but you might still score a partial hit on the other end.

This activity might take practice and repeated tries - Especially since you will need common sleeping times. But it could lead to some fascinating results and will be a great exercise to help develop lucid dreaming abilities.

      I wanna get in on this, too. So I'm going to answer Jerad's request first since he was the one who posted and gave me the idea. Would you be willing to take the PM's for us? Then when someone else comes in, you can link up with them for awhile and then we can trade and see if results differ. Maybe we can get good enough at this to have a group dream-in.

      Jared - we need a third party to send the pms to hold for us.

      There are three hours difference - (you are ahead) and I sleep late: bed around 2 - 3 (more often 4 but I shouldn't be doing that anyway). That means I'd be hitting you at about 5 - 6 in the AM is that good or are you awake by then? I

        Sal, I usually fall asleep around 3-4 my time, so by the time of 5-6 for you, I'm usually in REM sleem mode... I could stay up later for this experiment tho... so our sleep times are in sync... it sounds like we are only an hour or two off schedule...

          I would say both being a sleep at same time does not matter. Reason: There are no time or space limits in the delta state. That's why remote healing, Reiki, etc can be sent forward or back in time.

            Excellent point. However - a lucid dream where both people share the exact same dream - can report the same details - to this date is even hard to accomplish in well set up laboratories using wave sync equipment. In real life we've heard, some have experienced, an a actual visitation which can be related down to the letter by both parties, yet it seems that there is usually an extreme circumstance involved - a warning, a death, etc.

            Not sure exactly how the Military did their experiments or how far they've gone. They are making some real headway in remote viewing, but seems they want to keep that under wraps and aren't giving too many details about how they are achieving this feat - they are, though.

            Much of what you read on the net or in libraries is so packed full of BS that it was worth some cash to the author but not much to the rest of the world. There are so many charlatans in the fields of psychic development. Those in power sure don't want you to be able to use these energies. That's why US and USSR have both spent absolute fortunes training the few and keep the nature of the experiments top secret - yet the masses of the people are actually actively discouraged from developing their energy control.

            There are a lot of methods to achieve a lot of different results, so we'll probably get around to many of them.

    Sounds good Jared - I REM heavily and often. It's amazing. I can dream during a 10 minute nap. Anyhow - hope Ken comes back. He and BJ are both around the same time zones and both are kinda savvy on the subject. I have asked her to hold the pms.

    As far as the notes - those aren't cut in stone rules - they are guides and helps for people completely new to this idea.

    I have to get offline now for a few hours - If BJ comes back and says she'll hold the pms for us, then lets get on with it. She's sharp on this so she will be able to see connections that aren't completely apparent so can help analyse if all we get is a bit of thought transference, which is still kewl. I'll check back in a few hours and if the light is green I'll drop my pm to her.

    Tommorow we can't mention this until BJ posts our 4 pm's in here. Then it's fair game. I don't expect this to work on the first try. But that's where we have to start,eh?

I haven't done any lucid dreaming in awhile so even if I concentrate on this before going to sleep, I don't think I have enough control right now to actually hand you what I want to or say what I'm thinking about - even if I dream I see you.       I'm here...gee this teaches me not to go to bed early I TRY to get to sleep before 1 am on weekdays since I get up at 6:30 ..of course, it doesn't help that I'm usually awake til 3 or 4 on the weekends...but I'm a night owl and as soon as the sun goes down my eyes open wide and I get very restless.

      I don't know if it was this thread or me deciding to balance my chakras in my sleep but I was dreaming ALL night..still trying to decipher them this morning. lol

      I would be glad to hold the pm's for you. I'm fascinated with this...have done some experimenting with it myself before.

      I'm in a time zone all by myself ...but, you can figure me for mountain time

    Okay - I just pm'd my results to BJ (that's lilmechante01, Jared) so as soon as Jared pms his to her, she'll post them all here.

    VALERIE - no, you won't always remember, but experiment will probably develop our abilities to remember, as well as to shape our dreams, lucid dreaming abilities, etc.

    We'll be rotating partners Val -so we can all work as a group. Some may pick up on one person's brain waves better than others so until we are pro's - everyone gets turns. Try it out for a night or two with BJ. She needs a partner to start with.

    Maybe after we get good at this we can do some group dreaming. The military figured out how - I'm sure we can, too.

    The best time for me to dream is probably around 4-7am EST. I'm guessing that's when I'm in the deepest sleep. Sometime I remember my dreams vividly, sometimes I don't remember at all. If anyone else will be sleeping during that time you can pick me. I don't do naps. I find out if I take naps, it messes up my sleep and my day.

    I was going to send BJ another pm for tonight - but since she hasn't shown up, I'm going to let last night's ride and we can check things out tomorrow. If she doesn't show back up by then we can just send her the pms and then post here and let her verify it, etc.

    I was up and down all night - almost felt like flu but gone today. Probably from eating as much of the crap I was eating just before bed. Anyhow - didn't sleep well myself, and not saying anything further until BJ puts that up. If she posts before I go to bed then I'll change my message etc.

      okay..here's the 1st night ...

      from Sal to Jared: I want to give Jared a hat and tell him not to be afraid of the leprechans, they can't hurt him. LOL.

      Jared's dream:
      The bits of dreams I recall from last night were getting one of my VW Scirocco's back on the road, and working on my second one, I also found a VW Corrado sitting in my driveway, but I couldn't remember buying it...

      I do have 2 sciroccos in real life,(that are not on the road right now...) and I've always wanted to add a Corrado to the bunch...

      Nothing on my end about Sal, that I can remember anyways.

      Not a match really but I am curious Jared...what color are your sciorrocos?

      BUT...what I find interesting is what comes from night 2...curious if you see a connection

        Night Two:

        From Jared to Sal: OK, here's the message/gift I'm going to try and send Sal tonight ...
        I've got this quarts crystal rock which I have had as a kid, that I'm going to try to send that to her in a dream.

        Also, I'm thinking about showing her a cool place to explore, and she ends up finding a huge chunk of gold, or huge gem... by looking where I tell/show her.

        Sal's results: I lost a hell of a lot of dream memory to a ringing phone. Couldn't get it back to save my life.
        But I retained this much:

        There was a small mountain, foothill, in front of me - I know the hill in real life.
        There is a one and a half lane road winding up it. I was in my 4WD and studying the road cuts just before I started driving up them. They looked like fresh cuts with dirt heaped on the side. I drove up and got to an excavation site with a bull dozer there. The dream stopped there.

        I don't remember what I said but I know I spoke out loud a few times. I don't know if anyone else was in the passenger seat, I know Munch was in the back seat, which only happens when someone else is in the car - but I didn't see anyone, don't remember hearing them talk.

        I see an interesting "transfoldment" here (also bringing night one into it)...do you? bj

        Jared's Results: Well, I had another dream that involved one of my VW Scirocco, but this time with 3 friends, (I can't remember or picture the friends faces tho...) we were cruising around and having a great time together, me showing off a bit, opening up my new ride's hopped up motor... passing a few cars in places I shouldn't be passing, but not endangering my friends at all. Everyone was safe, I had tricked out the car with excellent safety equipment, like 5 point racing harnesses, fire extinguishers and roll bars, so even if we did crash, nothing would happen but a few bumps or bruises. Kind of like the co-pilots in rally car racing. My friends also put their faith in me that I would protect them, and that I was a good driver, so it was more of an amusement park ride than anything too dangerous.

        We all worked on the car together, and it was a good feeling to finally test out the beast we had all collectively been working on finishing for quite some time.

        It was a fun dream, a fun ride, and we ended up safely back at my garage, having a few drinks together, celebrating our accomplishment.

        And then I woke up, reluctantly, because I knew it was a dream and I wished that it was real. My rocco's are still hurting, one with a seized top end, the other with some electrical problems... ah... oh well, it just takes time to make this a reality for me. I will get there.

        Sal, in checking my pm's I don't see if you sent another to him for night two. Did you? I can also do some "reading into it" from what you sent Jared to what he dreamed about

        Yea... it's getting wierd... I'm seeing a bunch of connections w/ night 2 results... I was certainly wearing some sort of magic hat that made me fearless... and Sal's receivers must have been a bit open for her to remember exploring the place she has been to before... If she wasn't interrupted by a ringing phone, she might have found the quartz I was sending... not to mention we were both driving in our dreams...

        Interesting... what are your thoughts BJ & Sal?

    BJ - night two, I hadn't seen results posted so I said let it ride. I think I picked up more on what he sent than succeeded at sending him anything --- but he did stress, safe - and the message was "Don't worry about the leprechans, they can't hurt you".
    So he might have picked up a tad on the safety issue.

    I think we are doing good at this point - no meetings but a tad of transference.

    I'll send my PM to you in a few BJ - I have some stuff to do first but will get it to you before I go to bed.

      What I find interesting is what "seemed" to transpire. Jared, I don't know if you had your idea of what to send Sal before she sent you the leprechaun...and while you didn't dream about it specifically that night...here's what I'm wondering about....

      The next night after she sent you the leprechaun message you decided to send her a quartz crystal (which can act as a prism that creates a rainbow) plus you wrote "Also, I'm thinking about showing her a cool place to explore, and she ends up finding a huge chunk of gold, or huge gem... by looking where I tell/show her. "

      Now putting the crystal (rainbow prism) and huge chunk of gold together...it makes me curious if the leprechaun message she sent you the night before might have mainfested itself within your idea:confused:

        Wow... you're good. That's an interesting connection. I did not have the quartz crystal (rainbow prism) idea the first night. The second night, I was trying to send Sal the crystal to put into a sceptor, and put it up to the sunlight, in some mysterious cave, that would shine a light/prism to the x marks the spot hidden treasure, (something you see in an Indiana Jones movie) my first thought was a lava type looking huge chunk of gold... then maybe a huge precious gem as a bonus.

        Now that you have mentioned it, I can recall as a child playing with this crystal, holding it up to the sunlight and discovering that I could create a rainbow anytime I wanted to... and I knew exactly where the end was.

        Since it's been half an hour, I obviously have had many animals pop into my mind, so I'll list them in the order I thought of them.

        1 Blue Bird (that's mostly because you mentioned "out of the blue" I believe)
        2 Monkey with a banana in hand
        3 Elephant

        These first three stood out to me the most.

        Most of the following I watched on animal planet earlier, so I'm sure that influences these thoughts:

        Salmon swimming upstream

        Whale
        Aligator/Crocodile

    BJ -- we're reading too much into the crystal - I'm a rockhound remember. Jared fully knows that. I don't see anything psychy in that really - had he not known about my foaming at the mouth addiction to rockhounding that would be a lot more viable symbology. I think the whole fascination of that one to me is that he was going to show me where to find gold and I ended up at an excavation on a road side on a mountain that in my waking life has an old gold mine. That's what's got me cranked - and his several time over mention of safety. How often does a guy go out 4 wheeling and talk about how damned safe they were?

    Crystals and rainbows and gold had nothing to do with Leprachauns. I'm sure of that. You can sure believe that I will be checking that road out for fresh roadcuts this spring, though when the road gets driveable.

    Sal, here's how I came up with the message...

    Sure, I know you are a rockhound, which made me think of the crystal to send you as a gift... but the more I thought about it, the actual message I really wanted to send you was a map so to speak, and somehow the crystal was a key to that map, to finding gold.

    It's very interesting how BJ linked the crystal, rainbows, pots of gold with your Leprechaun message, but I see more of a connection with the safety message that you were sending... that's quite cool.

    BTW - seeing the lavendar light IS important for more than just relaxing. If we are both seeing the same color it will put us in the same wave-length. We don't have lab equipment so that's as close as we can replicate lab conditions.

      Since it wasn't part of the dream experiment-I figured I'd give him a hint so that he would have a reference...LMAO...I didn't expect him to go through every animal imaginable...plus it didn't help that he watched animal planet earlier either.       I get up very early in the morning, so I go to sleep around 9-10 pm, but I also nap in the afternoon.

    BJ is in AZ and Ken is in Washington.

    I think we need to pair up for a few nights then switch - and I am thinking of using a different method soon. The important part is to pair up and see what kind of connection you can get. If you aren't feeling you are hitting any common ideas with one person, change off - if you are connecting well, you might want to stick with the same person for awhile.

    It' gets a bit difficult to keep track of this when people don't submit their results and we have to weed through days at one time.

    Sal,

    I have nothing to report to BJ, I didn't sleep, the night before last, I stayed up working all night, with a bunch of coffee, then had a few cat naps with the tv on yesterday afternoon, and I can't remember any dreams... then I worked for a while yesterday afternoon into last night, and was too tired to do much after a while, so I called it a night... Last night, I was so tired that I crashed super hard, and again can't remember any dreams.

    I did however think of the message I wanted to send you a few times since I thought of it... you may have gotten that message...

    I'm thinking of tackling this experiment in a different way...

    Instead of being under a one night time limit, I'm thinking this could work better if things weren't rushed...

    I have been feeling that I am trying to make things happen, compared to letting them happen.

    I believe we have connected Sal, and I'm actually feeling tired... brain fried... I truley believe this experiment has actually been working, and I have a strong feeling that I need to rest my mind for a few nights.

    What do you think?

    Also, I like the idea of the blog you setup, somewhere that you can organize all the data as well as a place to share the suggested ideas/game rules etc...

    Well, Jared - that's what the heck you get for having a life.

    I have Val and Shay's info so I will post that.

    And because of the difficulty in coordinating info and all of the people interested but not paired up -- I am going to do this differently. I'll be out for awhile, then will have someone collect info so I can do a night or two with everyone else.


    Okay people - this is what we are going to do now. This will make it easier for me to collect information and will allow everyone who wants to participate to do so without needing partners.

    I've been thinking about this and we have all had different Ideas of where we want the dreams to take place so we are pulling on each other.

    Next post I will put up a picture and that is where you want to go in your dream. If you want to participate, send me a PM with information about what you are going to make appear in that place, or what specific ideas you want people to get there, etc. If you actually see each other terrific (better if they have the same dream though).

    Next day - pm your dream results. Even if you didn't get to the right place, you might have picked up on someone elses objects or ideas they want you to receive.

    What about this idea, since I agree that each dream partner so far has been pulling (or, rather trying to push a thought upon their partner) on each other, I don't believe we have been honestly trying to connect with each other...

    Each party has been trying to send a message to each other at the same time, but I believe this experiment may work much better if one party is focused on receiving a message, and the other party ready to transmit a message...

    Just like walky talkies...

    If both are trying to send a message at the same time, neither party will get the message.

    If dream share partners are in synch, and one is ready to transmit, and the other is ready to receive, I think this could change everything.

    Jared - the bigger picture pixilated every time I tried to resize it - just try to work it for a night or two and I'll see if I can't pick up a better picture - just didn't have enough time tonight to find another one. If you have any that might be good for this experiment, let me know when you pm your results tomorrow and we'll use it.
    Anyone else - if you have a pic of a good place, pm me and we can use it. Not a problem. Saves me the work of search, ya know? I'll just let people who have a pic know when to post it for us so we don't end up with 2 or 3 different dreamscapes on one day.     I think everyone is taking a few days off, BJ - I had pms last night but no one pm'd in their results today.

    I'm going to close the experiment on weekends. It's seeming a bit difficult for people to be able to get online during weekends. So we are on weekdays from here on out. There will be something set up fairly soon to replace the forum on this project.

    I don't know why it doesn't show up for you, Shay. You might have to adjust your settings - you might have something blocked.

    Go to my profile and to my "thread" pictures - if you can't see those you definitely need to change some permissions to see images. The pic is in there - its the Tudor style house. It's small but the bigger one pixilated when I changed the size so had to use the thumbnail.

      Go to my profile and to my "thread" pictures - if you can't see those you definitely need to change some permissions to see images. The pic is in there - its the Tudor style house. It's small but the bigger one pixilated when I changed the size so had to use the thumbnail.

    Okay folks - I will post a new picture tomorrow. It will be the picture for several nights run so everyone can really practice at projecting their subconscious somewhere specific.

    If you want to be involved, all you need to do is pm me that day or night and tell me what you want to specifically take, tell someone, or anything else specific you want someone else to pick up on. Then the next day pm your dream.
    I will not be staying up til 2:00 pm just to get results in. If they aren't in by around 9:00 or 10:00 PST, then you just have to do it again. Do not refrain from sending your results even if you feel you missed the point for the night. Sometimes little things that you don't feel mean anything might actually mean something to someone else. We don't always tell every little detail, after all, but will recognize a connection if we actually see it.

    I have the same problem. I checked my cpanal settings for the forum, and my browser settings in two different browsers. Everything seems fine, though I can't see the picture in the thread, or in Sal's profile.

    Will keep looking for a solution for us.

    Not sure what's on with this. I'm changing the picture anyway so we'll just worry about the next pic showing up. I have no clue why some can see it and some can't.

    It doesn't make sense one bit that Shay can see my dog pics but not the others either.

    The only thing I can see in your profile is your dogs too. I checked my forum cpanal about 5 times, and all the appropriate boxes were checked.

    aah, I guess it doesn't matter much anyway. I don't really remember my dreams anyway.

    It would have been cool though. Like remote viewing, but a lot more fun and entertaining.

      I just started reading Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge, so I'm looking forward to a few extraordinary dreaming experiences in the near future. I'm going to be trying the techniques out as I read along, and if anyone wants to share lucid dreaming experiences in particular, send me a PM. Does anyone else have any experience with lucid dreaming? I've only had a few of them, and my first happened only a year ago.

      There's really no mistaking a lucid dream. When you're in the dream world and can consciously think to yourself "yeah...I'm dreaming", you know you're lucid. It's a surprising, but wonderful experience when it happens.

    I'll check my settings. Something seems to be not functioning correctly - the pics I used to build my profile are showing up as a private album and I didn't mark them private.
    Hang on - if there's a glich in the system, I'll just delete some stuff and put up a new folder. Not to guarantee that will fix it - but if not I'll just email the pic to someone else and let them post it until I figure out why public albums are not public. That doesn't make sense either, though because some people could see this picture.

    That's possible Dave, I just found that the album with my pics was changed to "private". I did not do that so I'm figuring some stuff got juggled the last time they were working on the forum - my private album which was just the pics I used to build my profile is now a public album - Go figure - and I can't find a way to delete the albums themselves although I just deleted all the pics in the album in question - and I'm furious because it knocked the pics of my beautiful friend Munchie off of my profile. What a lark.

    Anyhow - the next post will show the picture of the place for us to go to and it is in an album I just constructed, which is a PUBLIC album so if there are any more gliches I'll just have to contact Allen.

    Well that was fun - got it back in one piece back there. As far as I can tell even Munchie's pic is showing on the profile again now. If not let me know.

    Here is the NEW PIC of the place to go to. If you can't see it - let me know now. If it still doesn't show I will need to contact admin for a behind the scenes repair.
    This pic is going to be here for a few days so that everyone can have a few nights to concentrate on this place. I think that will make it easier for us to get used to this stuff.

    The thought of going there last night definitely intruded on our dreamer's dreams. Maybe tonight will be the actual meet up?

    Jared - not sure if that's a lake in the background. Pretty small - maybe a pond or stream but could be a parking lot, too. It's in Pennsylvania somewhere so there's bound to be water around somewhere.

    they were probably crazy anyhow, Shay - but now you are paying attention........and from what I am seeing, it is a good idea for you to do that.

    This is the Moussaieff Red Diamond. Let's see who can wrap a dream around this puppy.



    Anyone can get into this any time they want. You send a pm to me the night before and tell me a specific about the dream you are going to try to create. Your specific is something you would like to transmit to the other dreamers - a place, idea, or thing. You will also want to see if you can incorporate the picture shown in the post in your dream. Then you send the results of your dream in the next day. I will post the results on the blog.

    We won't be running this on Friday or Saturday nights. Tonight is sunday but I posted this late so am aiming to have all dreamers in again tomorrow night.

    Yesterday in the news paper there was an article on a pygmy chimp that learned to stash rocks at the zoo so he can throw them at people later when he is pissed off. They said he may be a genius chimp.

    Anyway last night I dreamed of a chimp escaping from a high security jail and going through all the air conditioning etc - this sucker knew what he was doing and it was a great dream.

    Val - check your pm's. No I wouldn't post a dream if asked not to. I wouldn't want anyone getting a hold of the dream I had a few nights ago either - wow. LOL.

    Gareth - sounds like a fun dream. I have dreams every now and then that are horror dreams - just like movies. Almost wrote one in a book once. Had 170 pages done and ex burned it so I never started over, but it was a gas of a dream. Scared me crapless but I enjoyed it. I like at the end when I dream I'm driving down the road and see a street sign for the next town..x miles. It's just like the end of a movie like Salem's Lot - you know you're away from the danger...for now.

    Will post dreams on the blog again tomorrow - not too many dreamers reporting in the last couple of days. Have a surprise one - waiting for answers about posting, and Val's which, apparently, isn't gonna make it to the blog.

    Joshua - Yes I do lucid dreaming - this experiment basically is allowing people to start exploring their dreams, remember dreams, and learn how to project, not only to their own subconscious, but to others as well. Read how to participate and join up. Anyone is welcome.

    Actually yes people DO mistake lucidity. They often feel that because a dream was extreme in vividness that it was lucid. "Yeah, I'm dreaming" is a pretty good description of the difference between lucidity and vividness. The kick is when you get enough control to actually shape events. That's a real thrill.
