Jobs for Torturers being Advertised in the UK Press!!

Hi Guys and gals
I was browsing the Guardian Newspaper yesterday whilst at Lego land with my son and saw this Job ad in the paper. At first I couldn't believe what I was reading. The ad got me thinking though. When you look at the page with all the job ads the Title of this one leaps out at from the page and makes you want to read what its all about. Very clever if you ask me.
Some one in a marketing department has come up with this and I bet the response was much higher than a straight forward ad for the position.

This got me thinking about how to generate interest like this in the Internet Marketing field i.e. How to get something to leap out at you and make you read it.
What ways do you think this kind of technique be used?

Heres a shot of most of the page see how it stands out

And here is the Full Ad interesting Reading

That's a great example of a catchy headline - and also a great example of utilizing the power of media exposure (even though it is a paid ad).

We do similar things with our own client's press release headlines, although not quite that extreme!

The key is to come up with something catchy/shocking/unique while ensuring it's true, not going to offend anyone and isn't misleading.

I was reading it thinking "Wow! Is this for real?".

Good marketing... Kept me reading till the end to find out what it's really about.

It's what you do when no one is watching
that determines what you will be able to
    do when everyone is watching.

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

Clever? Perhaps. Effective? Who knows . . . depends if it got the desired results. Clever doesn't always equate to effective in marketing. In fact, quite often it backfires.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

It seems to have worked, after all it got someone in Wisconsin talking about it.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

If that was the desired result, then you're right, it worked. Call me crazy, but I'm kinda thinking that might not have been their goal.

          You are crazy.

This is an obvious attempt to recruit you.

Not for the physical torturing part, but for your unequaled mastery of the mental torture.

          I'm still healing....

p.s. no disrespect,Sensei. I am weak right now from the hunger caused by the kfc thread

      Hi Joseph
I think the ultimate use of this type of shock marketing was the guy who created "The Rich Jerk" what a success that was.
