U.S. News - 'F' is for 'fail': Texas school misspells its own name
A Texas elementary school is correcting a spelling mistake made when it changed its name nearly nine years ago.

Everything had the incorrect spelling of "Sunrise-McMillian" instead of "Sunrise-McMillan," including the lettering on the building, printed signs, vinyl congratulatory signs, logos and Facebook.

I posted this on FB the other day (what I am about to say,not the story you posted).
I went to my old Middle School web site the other day and noticed they posted they had been awarded and received an award of excellence recently.
Unfortunately they had spelled received like this: 'recieved".

Seems to be a lack of professionalism these days.

The roadsign below is was erected about 55 miles from here. It's been replaced now, but it was there for months. Every word on the sign is misspelled except "exit." There went a few thousand taxpayer dollars down the drain.

The misspelling of "business" is obvious, but the two towns listed should be spelled Rothschild and Schofield.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

LOL! how do they spell "Fired'?

That fits in to my "The 7 levels of incompetence" theory...
      1. Sign needed
      2. Sign ordered
      3. Sign designed
      4. Sign built
      5. Sign delivered
      6. Sign mounted
      7. Sign signed off on

Yet no one ever bothered to check for corrections because it was "not my job".

As Nike says..."Just do it" :p

School flubs happen all the time.

About 10 years ago Alexander Graham Bell Elementary school here in Cleveland was sending out achievement certificates and other documentation from Alexander Gram Bell.

Even the kids (6th graders) were spelling the name of the school wrong. How can you have faith in a school when they can't even teach their students how to spell the name of the school correctly?

This went on for a few weeks until my cousin, whose son was enrolled there, called the principal about it. The principal claimed not to have noticed and laughed.

This one from a few days ago cracked me up...a 13 year old kid caught a mistake the "pros" missed...(albeit a little tougher to catch )

One street became famous some time ago because it had a "shcool crossing"! You see, the term was WRITTEN on the street!

Yeah, don't you love it! They figured he was wrong because "He's just a kid!"! YEAH, and they AREN'T! What's THEIR excuse!? Seriously! They way some "adults" talk.... If I didn't KNOW what I knew, and didn't see THEIR failings, I would wonder if people got to INSTANTLY know everything on their 18th birthday or some such.

I recently heard that an actress I always kind of liked has an eidetic memory. They said she is one of like 12 people ON THE PLANET to have such a memory. I read an article a few years ago that said many scientists doubted such a thing was possible, and that there was only like ONE example. I am not be able to say I am truly eidetic. When I was a kid though, people always underestimated me because I was a kid, and they still underestimate me even though I am much older.

And we are discussing some MAJOR problems with adults!
