How can I download embedded video

I want to be able to download videos that are embedded in web pages.

I have used several Firefox plugins like download helper, but none will allow me to download flash videos.

The reason I want to download is that i spend a lot of time on planes and I would like to be able to view these while offline.

Is there a plugin, utility program or technique that allow this?

Thank you in advance.

Jeff

    Sure!

Orbit Downloader seems to work fine most of the time...

There are basically two types of video sources: file or streaming

If its the first type (file) then it's just a matter of locating the url in the HTML source that ends with .mp4, .mov, .flv... copy/paste that URL into your favorite download manager or just in a new browser window and it'll start downloading.

If the video is being streamed you need some tool to capture the stream. One of the most popular ways of streaming for publishers is to use the rtmp protocol. You can either do it the hardcore way and get a copy of ffmpeg which is capable of downloading the stream and saving it to any format you wish (avi, flv, mpg...). Just google for a tutorial on how to save an rtmp stream to disk using ffmpeg. It's a bit tricky to extract the exact location of the stream from the HTML source though..

Just go with the Orbit Downloader.

I have Realplayer (it's free; RealPlayer — Download the best video and audio player)
and every video I play Realplayer will download it.
