Venting....arrrrggghhhh.....

I'm guessing I can vent down here in the OT Forum whereas I met get frowned on in the other forums.

I hate it when I respond to someone's post with a long, lengthy, thought-out post and then the mods go and delete the entire thread.

I just spent about 20 minutes typing up a 750 word response, hit submit, and got that oh-so-wonderful message that says "this post doesn't exist." I would've actually like to be able to go back and get my post from out in Cyberland where it landed and use it as an article on my blog, but I can't even do that.

Grrrrrrr.

I have gotten into the semi habit ( which means sometimes I remember to do it and sometimes I don't) of copying and pasting a post to a text file before I actually post it just in case things like that happen.

Wordpad is my choice for long comments, too. Ya just never know. My problem was iffy connection. I'd go to post and find out I was no longer online. Now I write it on wordpad, copy, paste, and sometimes even save.

I know how you feel. Same thing has happened to me.

When I type a long post, I too now copy it and paste it before hitting the post button.

Sorry that happened to you. You probably spent a lot of time trying to help someone.

I've found - in Firefox, anyway - that hitting the 'back' button takes me back to the post form, with all the text still intact.

Don't know if that works all the time, or just in FF, or whatever. May be worth a try next time.

That normally works in Chrome, too. For some reason on this thread, when I hit the "post deleted" message, my entire "back button history" was wiped it. I couldn't go back at all to anything I'd looked at.

Yeah, some mods, do tend to go overboard with the deletions, (on other forums) if you find one that is a bit trigger happy, it is best to keep away from his or her posts for a while, or at least until their laptop has been taken away from them in rehab, .

I understand why it was deleted...the guy was getting demolished by the other posters in the thread. If you can believe his part of the thread, he was in pretty dire straights and seemed to be making choices that I've made in the past that I knew were wrong.

I'll definitely start doing that in the future, though. (The writing in notepad thing.) I already do that when I'm making posts on any of my sites...I never type in WordPress anymore. I guess I've learned my lesson here.
