And there's this appearance (actually a major part) in the late '70s movie Thank God It's Friday:

Loys of memories to her music. My sister played her albums (yes... albums) until they had new grooves in them. Used to piss me and my brother off back then. There's only so many times we wanted to hear:

    Toot toot
    Heyyyyy
    Beep Beep

    or...

Uuuuuuhhh! Love to love you bay-by!

      Oh no!

Donna's music was a part of so many hot summer nights of my youth dancing at the clubs. Such sweet memories!

      RIP Donna!

      You'll be missed.

A lot of teenage (ahem) thoughts were inspired by "Love To Love You Baby".

    RIP.

    Thanks Donna,

I only listened to two of your songs and this is one of them.

I still find your voice very soothing.

    May you rest in peace.

I always felt Donna Summer had one of the greatest voices of all time and I had her on my list of favorite female vocalists....I wish she would have sung some songs other than disco.

Here's my favorite song her's. (Later covered by Debra Harry and Blonde)

While I was a tad bit too young to go out to a real disco, Donna Summer and Diana Ross were music staples in my house.

I spent many afternoons in my mother's disco wigs singing Donna Summer songs into my hairbrush. I don't recall hearing that she was sick. Did she ever go public with the illness?

No matter, another great voice has moved on.

Halcyon you are too funny singing into your hairbrush. LOL!

Diana Ross and the Supremes was my childhood and they and all the other 'girl groups' of that (do-wop) era were my idols as a teenager.

Donna Summer well her and that song 'Last Dance' - I remember was my foray into hanging out in Gay Men's clubs after they took over most of the clubs in the Haight Ashbury. I had a great time (and also when I discovered the Ramones on their jukebox).*

I heard that damn 'Last Dance' song so many times I will never forget it. It was like the we are open/last call number and really the only one that stands out from those DAZE of hundreds of disco songs. I had all the disco anybody could stand. *("Sheena is a Punk Rocker")

    Anyway,

    RIP Donna Summer
