I think it's that they are all speaking out on the proposed merger between the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television & Radio Artists.

I actually haven't read the story yet, but in does make sense to merge these unions - the lines between the two mediums are so blurred anymore, I would need a see a rational reason to remain two separate entities...

It's the little guy who barely if, makes a living acting who needs the representation, not Hanks and Clooney - they are 1% in all ways here - but they probably also have the voice of the actor at heart.

If you want to get ahead, sometimes you have to take a part that's a real drag -

I looked around but while I could find some of those named against it, I was unable to find all those named coming out against it.

What they should do, is make people in Reality TV get a separate union...I wouldn't want to have to associate with those guys  :p

They are all in support of replacing the US democracy with a socialist government. Butt-kissing their leader, Vladimir Obama all the way.

I'm a little surprised to hear that about at least 2 of these people. Guess if you are rich enough fascism isn't a problem.

"fascism is the most misused, and over-used word, of our times" ~ Richard Griffiths.

I would add the words socialist and socialism also.

It is tossed around a lot - but hey, when the shoe fits, eh? The only other one I can see as an extremely apropos fit is "crony capitalism".

Socialism isn't enough of a definition in itself. Fascism is a form of socialism - but not all socialism is fascism. We are now in the in the early mid stage of Fascism, not communal socialism. There is no communal will from the upper classes nor the power elite. Under many forms of socialism, the lower classes of society benefit from the structure. In Fascism, they are consumed by it - the consumption does not stay within the lower classes but creeps up the socioeconomic ladder. Once high enough up that ladder it starts branching out to varied factions and suppressing target groups with little regard to their socioeconomic standing.
