Is Dolphin Boonex really open source?

The badly-reviewed Dolphin Boonex social community script (Reviews for Dolphin 7) is purportedly open-source, but this suggests to me that there are lots of limitations and hidden costs. Is this stretching the definition of open source?

Open source is SO overused, it is NUTS! What open source *****REALLY***** means is that the SOURCE code is OPEN! That means freely available. I guess TECHNICALLY, you could say it is merely available. Before open source, the ONLY source that was open was to the purchaser of a custom program, or a real high roller that BOUGHT it, some PD code, or some lucky person in a particular circumstance.

Looks more like they are willing to give you a basic free version, but I wouldn't call it open source.

I actually used this once,I'd guess about 10 years ago.
    Didn't care for it.

Yeah, some copanies DO offer an early prototype, though they are often updated, as opensource, and charge for a program that has some neat added features and better support. That doesn't mean you could call the paid for version open source.
