Requests on other forums for WF members

Whilst reading other SEO forums I occasionally find posts offering a few $ to anyone who is a registered member of WF.

I can only assume this is to add thank you comments to there WF sales threads. Kind of devalues the trust I may place on reviews.

Perhaps I should investigate and publicly out people.

    Not a good idea.

If you see a WSO seller trying to buy "thanks" on another forum, you should provide the WF Help Desk with all relevant details and let them take care of it.

Makes no odds to me if i 'out' someone but the formal route would avoid public arguments. However, my post was more to highlight the issue of people adding bull to their offers potentially misleading members with false success stories.

      Caveat emptor.

While a good point, those long time members try to help people that are new here. While outing may be the better choice at times, forum rules strictly forbid it, hence Frank gave you the better advice.

As far as the other, you hit the nail on the head:
        Caveat emptor.

Really? The forum rules allow fluff posting to hype a sales page?

I've seen someone who was offering money (via a fiverr type site, though not fiverr) for "reviews/testimonials" on "linkedin".

Linkedin were informed and they closed his account down. Within 3 months he was doing it again. They were told a second time and he has been banned again.

Facebook likes, twitter followers and reviews/testimonials are so easy to manipulate it does make me very sceptical of the whole thing.

However "social proof" is a great sales tool and that's why people try and fudge it.

Ya know, I could use some more "Thanks' being tossed my way.

I've been watching the market and as Facebook shares go down in value, it just seems to me I should be getting more "Thanks".

PS: I know it makes no sense, but it makes as much as someone thinking paying for them is going to help. Same with "Likes" on FB. I don't give a crap how many likes a person or a page gets. I use the same criteria there that I use here. If I like the post, I Thank the person. If I don't,then I don't.
You can buy 5000 of whatever you want, but I can pretty much tell by the actual post or picture or whatever if I am on the same wavelength as the other person.

Some personality types care about social proof...others do not.

    A lot do.

I'm one of the people that don't care what others are doing--I care about what my gut tells me.

But we can't ignore those who need social proof if we want to appeal to the broadest market.

Yeah don't out them yourself and start a war. Only end up getting yourself in trouble. Just take and submit a ticket and let the proper people handle the situation.

CCK - read the forum rules please before posting up such comments again.

This is expressly forbidden on this forum and the rules here, they're there for the benefit of everyone.
