I am so weirded out by the program I watched on Animal Planet -

Please give me your opinion and/or feedback. Let me give you an abbreviated version of the main points and respond to any one of them. You can watch the videos or respond if you think it is a hoax and which part of it is a hoax. See my other questions in the list.

Dead whales - bleeding from the ears
US Navy - sonar weapons testing

Anthropologists and Marine Biologists

Audio recordings of dolphins and whales - mystery voice on recordings 3 different years captured in the recordings.

Body parts found inside beached marine life after sonar weapons testing.

* Fins - not dolphins, not manatees - unknown species
* Pelvic bones - human like (used to walk upright)
* Hands (webbed)

* DNA tests - so close to human DNA that South Africa threw the results out saying they had to be a mistake.

*Weapons found made with sting ray fins - now Dolphins are smart but they don't make weapons.

* 6 million years ago some apes went for the trees others went for the ocean.

Myths and legends from all over the world about mermaids and sightings throughout history.

They are saying not only there were mermaids all those years ago but that they are still alive.

Government cover up - everything confiscated by the government - WHY?

They alluded to the fact that if people are going to get up in arms about beached whales, imagine how they will feel if the testing is killing our ancestors.

The most hard to believe part is the kids in Washington who captured the 'thing' on their cell phone - you have to see it but that is all the evidence that is left after the Government destroyed everything.

Guy from the Navy Dept saying they kept the thing alive for 3 years before it died.

Remember not just to say it is a hoax or conspiracy theory because you can - base your hate on the facts as they are represented and give your honest opinion.

I saw that last night too Pat,
and while I cannot swear to it, it seems to raise a flag about a thread we had here in OT in the past year or two that was discredited.
At the same time I am NOT 100% sure it is the same thing, wish I had a better memory nowadays.
It certainly was interesting either way, and I hope someone can give us some more insight into it.

It doesn't really sound like a hoax - I mean the subject does, but it seems to have credible people and some compelling evidence. It is, though, kind of a question why anyone would try to hide this stuff. Study? Because "they" created something and don't want us to know what they are doing with genetic testing on animals and humans? ( a very well circulated theory).

Guess this one will probably go the way of the Yeti "legend" - although the Yeti actually exist. They got hair from one and did DNA testing. The Tibetan Plateau is most little known area of the world, so who knows what is up there. Who knows if something showing up now hasn't always been around and just now being drawn out of its natural habitat by climate, ecosystsem, or geological change.

About all I can really say about this one is to keep an open mind that possibilities exist. Sooner or later someone will figure it out one way or the other.

well to take it a step further since I haven't been called an idiot YET because I believe it is possible, I have always thought the Etruscans had fish faces - maybe I am just associating the word with crustacean - but I have always thought they crawled up out of the ocean. So back to the beginning...

... and then of course there is Atlantis. who knows what they looked like -

All I know from this is I got to see a Manatee and I still think they are the cutest thing that ever lived - I mean they are right up there with puppies.

Patrician, I can't watch this stuff, it bothers me too much. I think it's something to do with my childhood and asking my mom if dogs got headaches.

It's sad to say, but I probably have more compassion for animals than humans, reason being, humans (for the most) can express their pain/discomfort etc. verbally, whereas animals cannot speak to us - we have to know how to read and interpret their body language so to speak.

I donate to causes etc. without seeing the horrors these animals are subjected to. If I watch anything that is abusive towards animals, I will not get any sleep as the images are embedded in my mind - just something I'm very sensitive to and have never been able to shake.

As for the (any) government cover up, hell, there's little they don't cover up nowadays. Welcome to the new (real) world.

    Yes Jody I hear dat.

One of my favorite uncles always said "the more people I meet, the better I like dogs"

I do have more compassion for animals than people for the most part, and I will tell you why - they are without sin, unlike us. In their case when they murder and pillage they are just acting natural, doing it to survive.

When we act natural we are almost always doing the wrong thing, and 'acting like animals" hehehe - but seriously we need to act from our spiritual sense not our nature. It's a complex issue that I probably shouldn't even mention out of context because it probably makes no sense to anyone else. Suffice it to say I love animals too.

Patrician, I love your uncles mentality, he is/was (?) a wise man!

We live in an ever-changing world, one I do not particularly like at the moment.

Bottom line, the gov. allows all this crap to continue. We are damned if we do and damned if we don't. Can't say more, as I don't want to jeaporadize this thread.

I'll leave the mermaids to others - but I read quite a while back about sonar testing that caused pain and suffering for dolphins and whales.

I thought it was disgusting then - and haven't changed mind since.

If you think about it, ALL whales, aparently dolphins are also considered whales, HAVE to be sensitive to sound. Considering how sonar had to work and the time it was developed, it would have to be loud and low. NOT a good combination. On the bright side, they probably kept away from submarines.

It is CERTAINLY possible! There are SEVERAL human "disorders" that result in WEBBED HANDS! There have even been cases of the legs bound. Sirenomelia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia And the human body can not survive without an environment like what is found in the water, but it is generally INTERNAL. Humans have the WORST combination of strength and ability of nearly any other creature their size. They would probably fare better in the ocean. For some reason, Whales and some other creatures seem to be okay with humans and, outside of sharks, there is practically nothing equal. Meanwhile, on land, MANY animals that could do us harm may look at us as potential food.

So it IS interesting. One thought about human evolution DOES say that we spent time in the ocean. Of course, the MAIN evolution idea basically says EVERYTHING came from the ocean or, at the very least, one creature. After all, the idea of life coming from virtually nothing seems ludicrous. Outside of the obvious idea of changes(even CARS and COMPUTERS show THAT), the idea is so preposterous that it wouldn't even be considered if not for the fact that the stated alternatives seem more so. Good old occams razor!

And they used to think that a LOT of things were laughable myths! I forget what they were, but when I heard of cryptozoology, there were no less than FIVE ****BIG**** animals discovered that were thought to be MYTHS! They were as big as big deer! Other myths include a "man of the forest" that had red hair, etc... AKA orangutan. And another thing called a man that had strange black and white coloring, and ate bamboo. A PANDA! And these were in areas that PEOPLE inhabited! We haven't searched much of the ocean, but there HAVE been weird creatures only discovered THERE in the past century. And mermaids ARE in records all throughout europe. I mean we KNOW they were recorded in roman and scandinavian cultures. So I don't see how anyone can discount that they COULD exist. There could be MILLIONS, and we would never know.

@kenmichaels - yes exactly where I became skeptical - I had to watch it a second and third time - online - and then the next morning was when I said, 'no way = that was totally phony' - the look on the kid's face - was not terrified as it would be if it was real - it was completely contrived - but that doesn't make the rest of the story and/or so called 'evidence' (bones, etc) necessarily hokey.

@ken_caudill - not what I am saying at all. Even though I hate the fact we murder animals to eat - so do they - murder and eat each other - - so what is good for the goose is good for the mermaid - or whatever -

...it is more about attitude and mentality where too many of us are not innocent.

... still doesn't mean we "deserve" or don't deserve - or even that we are at fault for our nature. however we are as 'higher animals' supposed to be in charge of our actions - most of us are - and to our benefit most of us are not cannibals.

Well, I sometimes don't show expressions the same way. When I REALLY get frustrated, like there is NO way to do it, I kind of laugh.

Human priorities are all messed up. Think about it! SO much is just DUMB! In some ways humans are the dumbest creatures on the planet. And WHY!?!?!?!? Because a number of senseless WARS occured and things were done to simplify society and allow fo it to grow to a MONSTROUS size, and then people spread like a cancer! SO many of the problems of today are related to things found in that ONE sentence!

That some clavo Cthulhu Eldritch horrors right there.

This is why I don't like going into the sea if I can't see the bottom. You don't know what's down there. If I can't see the bottom, I ain't gonna go in. Especially during Box Jellyfish season. You don't want to ever get stung by a floating plastic bag 'cuz you were looking at your tippy toes or get wrapped up in the tentacles of a Man 'o War.

Why do you think no one ever pushes for exploring the oceans? Because everyone wants to get off the planet before we get turned into Cth-horrors breakfast. I don't want to get turned into itty bitty monster cereal.

If ya'll need me, I'll be on Mars hanging out wih Mr. John Carter. :p

LMAO -- you nailed the reason I hate water. I can swim. I can swim all damned day if I HAVE to -- but don't put me in ocean water. YIKES. I don't even like to be in a lake if there's seaweed under me.

Yeah, I wasn't counting the LITTLE things like puffer fish, scorpion fish, jelly fish(although SOME are large), or bacteria, or waste products, or squid, etc... HECK, there are such dangerous things on land, several types of ants, spiders, etc.... LOTS of insects, snakes, etc.... And for the water, I forgot about crocidillions, but THEY tend to stay near land anyway. They breath air, probably can't stay under THAT long, etc... It is nice to go with the devils you know.
