European Football - Who's Going To Win

Who do you think is going to win the European football that is going to be going on over the next few weeks.

I am English born and raised (with a Jamaican background an a slight detour through University in Maine USA) so I would like to see England win. However, what I like this year is that it seems to be the first year in as long as I can remember that there doesn't seem to be any real pressure on them to win.

I like this because I am feed up of being disappointed. I haven't watched them play properly for ages because I am feed up of all the hype and then nothing coming from it.

Spain are obviously up there and I would like to see Torres play well. England IMO don't have much of a chance on paper so without that pressure, maybe they young guns can shine. (and maybe pigs will fly - but I can hope can't I?)

I haven't been paying attention honestly, but glancing at this UEFA EURO - Matches ? UEFA.com and if I understand it correctly, then I'll root for Ukraine until they, er I mean, unless they drop out. Then Poland. Then either Croatia or Germany, but my heart wouldn't be in it. Once I no longer have any favorite teams in I'm doubly uninterested.

But seriously, Ukraine could cream England. Totally! Like, I mean, seriously purée them and then pour them off the pitch. Oh, yeah!

ETA: Oh and Spain aren't "up there." You've got the map upside down.

I will be supporting England until the end.

My advice to the players would be to have a pint of Magners before each game

That might just do the trick! We've never tried that have we?

Anyone can cream England. They're just about the most over-rated team in the history of football.

France is going to trounce them in the opener. Name me one decent player they've got besides Rooney? Jokes like Walcott?

Err... Ashley Cole, Steven Gerrard, to name just two. I agree they don't have lots of superstars, but they pretty much all play in the premier league which is one of the toughest leagues in the World. So they have experience, even the youngsters.

Anyway, I am in the middle of watching Greece against Poland. I don't think either of these two teams have a chance, even thought I am reasonably impressed with Polands organisation, but Greece are so poor (no pun intended) that it is difficult to get a good idea of whether Poland is actually any good.

And what's your problem? Can't friggin' spell a name that's stated pretty damn clearly. Can't spell "you" either, huh?

Nah man. Gerrard has lost it. He's part of a set-up that grossly under performs each season. He was a class act. But no more. Lampard, maybe.

As for Ashley Cole... I can think of a few who are better than him. Jordi Alba for one.

The Premier League is no longer the toughest. The players in general are very average. If teams like Athletic Bilbao are able to beat United convincingly, it really shows something.

I'd still go with the La Liga. While Madrid and Barca are miles above the Spanish teams, the remaining lot (3rd place to 10th) are very competitive. And even the seemingly average teams (like Atletico, Athletic, Valencia) have comfortably taken on teams from other leagues.

Full credit to Chelsea for winning the Champions League. But the only reason they won it is because Mario Gomez is one of the most over rated strikers who specializes in wasting opportunities.

England have a good chance. For the first time in my life, we don't actually have any expectations, which might work in our favour for once..

Russia also looking very tasty at the minute...

too early to call. however, the "usual suspects," Italy, Fance, Spain, Germany, stand a good chance. cannot rule out England

Hopefully, England as all the other teams might be fighting each other on and off pitch....lol

And I think the squad will be taking a pint of Magners Cider before each game and have Elton John sing to them before each game. We have to try everything!

Either way, the Football and Olympics will be enjoyable for all sporting enthusiasts around the world.

Shall we hold a seánce? Poor thing can't knock very well with tentacles. Besides, the hip kids are apparently following Fred the Ferret.

Anyway, Croatia beat Ireland. I'm happy so far.

If Spain keeps playing Fernando Torres, then they will win -- IDK why they played Cesc Fabregas as a forward in the first game against Italy smh...

I do like Germany as well, Mario Gomez is on fire -- that guy will score once he is in the box!

I think Spain has a good chance, even though I dont want them to win as I always root for the underdogs and they won the last world cup. Id like to see England win but its doubtful I dont think their ready. Depending on the next stage if Germany doesnt go against spain id say both of them will be in the Final.

Going to be watching the england game tonight.

I said Spain from the start and nothing changes that.

Although I have been impressed by Italy, especially Pirlo, he's class.

As for Mario you're never sure what one's going to turn up. Can be very good
or very bad, yesterday he happened to be good, can he do it two games in a row?

Haha true...he is good or bad but always entertaining. I can't believe he took his shirt off and got a yellow card...a big risk to take. Glad he was subbed off and can play the final next week.
