The Wallenda family is one of the most well known in the circus performing arts history.
Taken from the story in your link:
The Wallenda family is famed for its fearless feats throughout the past two centuries. The earliest acts on record for the Wallendas were in the lats 1700s, when ancestors traveled in Austria and Hungary as jugglers, animal trainers, trapeze artists and acrobats, according to the AP.

The thing I hate is they say "live" then add a delay, that is not "live" in my opinion.

It's better then being recorded edited and then being shown on TV.

I will be watching. I hope all goes well he is risking his life, I am not the type that will try to cheat death!

So It will be very exciting to watch.

        Live is live, not recorded.

A seven-second delay is not really noticeable, considering it takes less time to hit bottom.

I would agree with you if you changed the word "less" to "more"

Paul was originally an economist, I understand: he's presumably used to people replacing and substituting such words as "less" and "more" in what he writes.

It's less. Do the math: The drop is approximately 170 feet. Acceleration due to gravity is 32 ft/second (squared).

If you do the math, time to impact is < 5 seconds, but wind currents could add as much as 2 seconds.

That's why I never use decimal points in my calculations anymore; they can be so hilarious.

It is indeed ... or 9.81 m/s2, as we say in the rest of the world. But this doesn't allow for air resistance, of course. Nor for the damp breeze one might encounter, in those parts. The guy managed this ok, anyway, did he? Over here, we've naturally been too fascinated by this story to have noticed.

The Dalai Lama described Brand's introduction as "completely informal", and Brand responded: "Did you pick up any spiritual tips?"
The Dalai Lama replied: "I think your openness transfers wonderfully."
The pair went on to talk about their contrasting sleep times, with the Dalai Lama arising early in the mid-morning, something that was not typical of Brand's lifestyle.
"Day is for work, night is for sleep but you can do what makes you happy," said the Tibetan leader.
"Thank you for sanctioning my lifestyle," replied the comedian.

My neighbor wanted invited me to bike down and watch it live. I wish I had of said yes, so will try and catch it on tv tonight.

Niagara Falls only allows a stunt every 20 years. This guy has wanted to perform this stunt since he was 6 years old. He started walking the tightrope at 2 years of age.

ABC are the ones insisting on the safety harness, obviously for liability reasons. I'm curious to know if he will drop the harness altogether after starting out. He says he wont, but will if he feels it's a security or safety issue!

I have on my book shelf is a little book entitled Niargra and the Daredevils. I am sure there are many other books as well. It is amazing some of the things that used to go on there. Perhaps the most famous was Jean Blondin who went accross several times, including on a bicycle, blindfolded, pusing a wheelbarrel and even carrying his manger on his back............amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

According to reports, the actual event will begin at 10:20 p.m. The walk is expected to take 40 minutes to cross from the U.S. to Canada.

I hope he doesn't have any immigration/border problems: would be slightly inconvenient to have to turn round and go back the same way ...

Alexa, lol, I actually thought the same thing! I did however, read an article that said he would have his passport with him.

Yeah, but will he live up to his promise, or release it it he feels it's a security or safety issue?! This is a first for him ever having to contend with a safety harness............I'm just guessing he might lose it once the walk begins. ABC would no longer be held accountable should something happen.....

But, then again, he has the issue with the falcons nesting close by with their young chicks. There is a chance they could dive-bomb him, but theirs also the chance of something happening to the baby birds.

A letter was sent explaining the repercussions for him, should anything happen to the falcon family.

I just hope he makes it. I'm debating whether or not to watch it just now.

As someone freakishly phobic of ledges - I don't even want to SEE this one. It amazes me what some people will do for fun.

Why are they interviewing him as he is tight-roping!? On some days I can't even walk and chew gum at the same time.

That wire must be soaking wet!

He did it and did it well - I watched the last 10 minutes or so. Pure skill and years of training paid off. Loved the little run at the end.
