Few movies interest me nowadays. But I happened upon this article about how an autistic boy overcame difficulties through a friendship with a horse that he had met by chance.
How riding a horse taught a boy to speak - Health News - Health & Families - The Independent

Then I learned that this story was made into a feature film documentary:

THE HORSE BOY

OK, I watched it. The parents kind of reminded me of Spinal Tap of all things. They were being unintentionally comical. While the parents were seemed flighty and weirdly roundabout, somehow they got something right in taking the child to Mongolia. Maybe all the horseback riding in scenic Mongolian countryside had a therapeutic effect on him as did, interestingly, his interactions with Mongolian people, especially tribespeople. Even the Shaman rituals seemed to help the boy. Mongolian people in the documentary showed great kindness and understanding and seemed much more rational and grounded in reality than the boy's parents, LOL.

I'll say this much. After watching this documentary I want to go on a horseback riding vacation in Inner Mongolia, China, and in the country of Mongolia. Not sure when I'd be able to manage it. My toddler is only two-years-old. A big China vacation is definitely in the works when he's older, including visiting his relatives in southwest China.
