Is electricity going up this winter?

Someone told me that electricity costs are supposed to be double this winter than last year. Is that true? I hope not! She said if your bills last year were $300 expect $600 bills this year. I'm hoping she's wrong.

Glad I moved to a smaller place where I'll save about 50% in electricity. My last place was way too big, I'd have gone broke trying to stay warm.

Can you imagine? It's going to be a double whammy for some. Both electricity and gas are going to be more expensive, in some cases quite a bit more than they paid last year.

And. If the Farmers almanac is correct for the NE we're to have a colder than normal winter.

Gotta get busy now...need to make some money so I can pay bills...

We were told 3 weeks ago that ours would increase 45% over the next 3 years. I had been thinking of taking out the fuel oil furnace and replaceing it with an electric one, but not sure that would be such a good idea now.

LOL you smartalek leprechaun. Most years there's not a dramatic rise in costs. But when there's that big dramatic increase, that's what hurts ppl. If it goes up in just change or a few dollars, most people won't even notice. But if you're going to have to pay 200 or 300 extra a month than last winter....ouch

We've been told that our electricity bills will rise 16% and gas 25% (or maybe it's the other way around).

Of course this'll have a knock on effect and everything else will go up too.

Yeah, my electric used to be about 2g's a month 3 years ago.
Now it's about 2.5 grand. Just because I installed a ground source heat pump
If i didn't get one my bills would be around 4 grand a month:|
