Hey Gang,

Could I get you guys and gals to give me a little feedback on a software/script I have been working on?

http://www.warriorforum.com/internet...view-copy.html

If not, I'm never speaking to you again (which some of you may consider would be a great thing). :p:p:p

      Thanks for taking a look Tina,

      Yes, you are correct, the script enables you to setup your own video portal similar to the demos... you can add your own niche/keywords and the script will automatically display relevant videos/titles/descriptions from youtube determined on your niche keywords/tags you want.

    Hi Jared,

    Seen you around, but never got around to actually meeting you.

    I can see a million uses for a script like that. The only problem I would have (only because I am way behind the times) is... are css files hard to edit? What type of software is used to edit a css file?

    Been meaning to learn about css since, oh, about 2003. Just never got around to it.

      CSS is pretty easy once you get the hang of it Dave.
      Here's a little bit about it CSS Introduction
      Basically it takes all the code for font size, color, type, background colors and images, or to put it another way all the styles of everything on a web page or site and puts it in one place instead of repeating it on every page like HTML does. Wow that was a long sentence.

        Jared, I looked at three of the videos and I must be dumber than hell because I don't get it.

        The first two showed earnings but no sound and the truck jumping over the things were awful...blaring damn music.

          Hey Charles,

          The demos I showed were just to get an idea of what you could do with the script... you can edit the keywords/categories/tags and the script will display YT videos relevant to your niche.

          Does that make more sense?

      Hey Dave, good to finally talk to you... I've seen you around also

      ThomM gave a good link to learning css, however, I can certainly help you out if you need any customizations, or help customizing the script yourself.

      Just let me know.

    Oh my goodness! On topic in the Off Topic!

    By the way, exactly where is the On-Topic forum here? Is that upstairs near the foyer?

    Cool cameras, Jared! How can we monetize that? I've heard of people who use video cameras mounted on the bottom of RC helicopters. They fly them over someone's property to get aerial views of it and sell it the homeowners. Comes in handy when someone wants to know what their neighbor is hiding in the backyard on the other side of the fence...

    Those must be some tough cameras, too! I bet they take a real beating mounted on those RC trucks!

    Hey Jared...

    I didn't download/install it, just used your demo.

    It's a great script with a lot of potential...My only suggestions are to remove the %20 used to fill blank spaces in the URL.

    And maybe for the search/URL attributes, offer the following options for querries:
    all (must contain all the words, anywhere on page)
    any (can contain any single word in the query, most general)
    exact (query phrase much exactly)

    This will allow admin more control over the results.

      Kurt,

      Great ideas... yuppers, the script could use a bit more SEO. I'm on it.

      Also, going on your search brainstorming ideas, I think another option to choose either the most recently added, or the most popular/viewed would be a nice additional feature.

      Thanks a bunch!

        Hey Jared,

        I'm being selfish and speaking only for myself and not as a "marketer"...I want all the attributes/options in the URL so I can use SSI to pull the results to mix and match with other stuff, so the html template should accomodate this...(I'm guessing it already does).

        And, any options that allow for more control would be great, I just want to be able to call them using the URL:
        &mode=pop
        &mode=viewed
        &mode=new

        Also, maybe a "start" attribute:
        &start=15 (First video listed is actually the 15th returned by search)

        While you're at it, maybe a RANDOM attribute to display the results randomly:
        random=yes
        random=no

        And since you're doing the work and not me... LOL Maybe an "exclude" attribute:
        search=george+clinton&exclude=bill+hillary&mode=ne w&random=yes

        This is similar to "exact", but gives even more control. In the example above, it would help focus on the musician George Clinton, and make sure Bill and Hillary Clinton videos weren't included. This may give a little more control to the search attributes.

          Thanks a bunch for your ideas Kurt,

          I've got them written down in my notepad with my 'To-Do List' for v2.0...

          For now, I've just decided to let v1.0 fly... if I keep adding features, I will never launch anything! lol
