I was a dangerous outlaw LOL
They aren't too happy when you don't show up for court!
It was an accident I swear, I did not know when my court date was lol. I called to find out and it had already passed. But it's all taken care of now, but it sure was a hassle. Lesson learned. NEVER procrastinate on stuff like this! If you get a ticket pay it ASAP! If I just did that, all of this would have been avoided!

LOL HAHA that's a good idea. Already went to court for that and it's $188 fine. Now I'm a very careful driver, always looking around, is there police nearby? Don't pull me over, I'm driving slow

Wooohooo!! Congrats on getting your license back. As someone who was on the other end, driving my brother all over everywhere, it's a great feeling even if it's the someone else who actually got the license. Kudos to you!

      Val -

I didn't lose my license but I got arrested over tickets.

My car was in the shop so I was using my best friend's car - and he failed to mention that he had gotten his new car tags but hadn't put them on the car. As luck would have it, I got TWO tickets in about 15 minutes of driving - for "expired tags". I was not happy.

The next week I went to the courthouse and they pulled up the tickets (I thought) and I paid $70+ and thought it was over.

A few weeks later two men showed up at my door and told me I was under arrest for unpaid tickets. I assumed it was an error. I was wearing very short shorts and a halter so asked if I could change and an officer followed me into my bedroom - when I asked if he planned to watch he got all red and went back to the other room.

They took me (in an unmarked car) to the police station (which also housed the jail). Turns out I had paid only one ticket becuase the clerk found that one and didn't see the other one.

When I realized what had happened I told them I'd pay the ticket next week when I got paid and explained the situation. I was told I had to pay it "now" or stay in jail - so I chose jail because the almost $250 they wanted would leave me short on paying my bills that week.

So they put me in a cell and I climbed on the top bunk and was reading magazines they brought me. They had me take the laces out of my reeboks! That's when the absurdity of the whole situation hit me. Every few minutes one of the officers would come by and ask me if I wanted to call someone - and I said "no". Then they called the court and the court clerk came to the jail and tried to reason with me - he wanted me to write him a check and call someone to pick me up. I said "no, thank you".

He said I was creating a problem because they didn't want me in jail - I asked him why they came to get me if they didn't want me there. I was polite, not angry - I was finding the whole thing interesting. I sat there for about two hours till the clerk-guy came back with a paper for me to sign that would allow me to pay next week as I had offered. So I signed it and got my shoelaces back.

I was joking with the cops, asking them if they thought I would hang myself with those wornout laces - and we were all laughing. They asked again for me to call someone to pick me up and I said "No, I'll walk". I walked less than half a block before the same car stopped with the same two arresting officers. The driver said I was the stubbornest woman he'd ever met - and to get in the damned car so they could make sure I got home safely.

When I went in to pay the fine the next week as agreed I found the clerk had removed all of the additional late charges and court costs that had been added. The ticket cost me about $50. I stopped by to thank the clerk for reducing the fine - he said it was the best entertainment they'd had for a while.

For weeks my son referred to me as "the criminal element" and "jailbird".

    LOLOL Kay OMG

I just can't imagine you getting arrested!!!! And over one ticket?!?!?! And this was your friends car that caused all this trouble?! So YOU had to pay fines cause HE didn't put his registration on his car??? I'd be pissed at him.

That was the funniest story I've read in a long time. I'm glad I haven't had the experience of getting arrested and hope I never have to At least you didn't have to stay in jail the whole week!!!

Funny thing was - the damned stickers for the tag were in the glove box.
He paid me back for half of the tickets (I wouldn't let him pay it all).

Charlie's excuse for not having put the stickers on the tag - "you know I'm not technical". Bless him - he was a trip.

Valerie -- I didn't know you ever left the computer. When the heck do you ever find time to drive?

I got pulled over with my stickers in the glovebox once, too - just simply forgot to put them on the car. The cop saw that I was sincere and let me put them on right then. I guess I wasn't exciting enough to pull off the streets for it. Now I feel insulted and hurt. LOL.
