Awww.... One of my favorites. I just recently watched "A Face in the Crowd" for the first time. What a great actor.

My wife loves watching Matlock. In fact, she pops in a DVD almost every single
day and then watches it on reruns on TV 10/55 where we are.

She is going to be very sad to hear this.

Me? What can I say? I watched his first show when I was a little kid. Always liked
      him.

      RIP Andy, Ben, Will Stockdale.

        Sorry Kim,

I just realized you posted the same thing a couple of minutes before I did.

But we certainly agree Andy was the best! You know what?

I think he deserves two threads!

Andy, you will always live on in our hearts and memories and in re-runs. RIP Sheriff!

Wow - Andy has left the house?!?!

Hard to believe when somebody has just been around all your life and now they are gone.

Andy was definitely a good guy and I agree with GaryV - Andy was somebody who always played the 'good old guy' as we remember him -- both from Mayberry and Matlock, would be surprised to see what a great actor he is when he plays a real high volume low life like he did in 'Face in the Crowd'. ("Lonesome Roads")

Rest in Peace Good Ol' Andy.

I agree with you and Gary as well - he could have, and did play a good 'louse' - I think "Lonesome Roads" was only compounded by growing up with AG as such a likeable guy that makes the acting better - it was like seeing Henry Fonda play 'Frank' in Once Upon a Time in the West, or Alan Alda (in a movie I can't tell you about...because it would spoil it...:p) or Mrs. Brady in "Shakes the Clown"!

or that picture of Mr. Rogers flipping the bird!
(he didn't realize he was doing it :rolleyes

But it is the initial shock value of 'discovering' the character...kind of like the first time you heard your Grandmother say a 'bad' word...

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Our children/grandchildren will be lesser for never knowing him.
2 1/2 Men was great comedy but not exactly family oriented.
To grow up with Opie Taylor with his dad, Andy, is a treasure that can
    never be duplicated.
And, I've been watching Matlock marathons on, (I think), the Hallmark channel.
As fate would have it, they're having another one all day tomorrow.

PS. Say "hey" to Barney for me Andy.
