God speed my beloved Andy, may you rest in peace.

That's too bad...Here's a couple of my favorite Andy Griffith memories (other than Mayberry or Matlock).

Finally something we can agree on.

All the good ones are leaving us and I don't think the rising generation even comes close.

  • Too bad to see him go - funny it would be the day before the 4th of July - he brought about a little homespun Americana into our homes each week - they initially thought The Andy Griffith Show was too 'corny' and downhome for audiences, but Griffith followed his instincts, and proved them wrong - they loved it...

I think because of his 'homespun' persona, he was under-rated as an actor, and a producer...he did have some acting chops, as in "A Face in The Crowd" (1957) with Andy Griffith and Patricia Neal. (Directed by Elia Kazan)

For some reason Kurt, I was also thinking of the funny Movie "Onionhead" (1958) with Andy Griffith and Walter Matthau...

Give these two Movies a look sometime...

Well, I think I got me a 'hankerin' for some Cin-mun-rolls

    And some Ritz Crackers...

RIP Andy - I can see you whistlin' off into the sunset now...goin' fishin'

My fondest memories of Andy are (of course) The Andy Griffith Show and "No Time For Sergeants" as Will Stockdale.

"No Time" is still one of my favorite movies of all time and to this day I'll do a bad imitation of Andy's "Hello? Hellloooo?" on the phone when I can't hear someone. No one gets the joke but me, and I'm sure they think I'm strange, but I find it funny.

I also own a 45 of Andy's comedy bit "What it Was Was Football".

Andy was really the start of the entire "country" sitcom trend of the 60s. Without Andy, I'm not sure we'd have had Green Acres, Petticoat Junction, The Beverly Hillbillies, Hee Haw, etc.

Loved the Andy Griffith show when I was a kid - but I actually liked the reruns as an adult better.

We just lost a very good person and entertainer.

    RIP Andy

I couldn't really get into the AG show, but he was a pretty stand-up guy, and he's leaving behind a hell of a legacy. Rest in peace.

I grew up with "The Andy Griffith Show" as one of my earliest TV memories and still enjoy watching reruns after all these years. Thanks, Andy, for all the memories.

Andy was certainly one of the most memorable and beloved characters on TV for many people of that generation. I always enjoyed his characters, no matter what show or movie he performed in. Especially "The Andy Griffith Show" – Everybody who saw it wanted to live in Mayberry!

      I know, GT.

One year when I was small, we were discussing where to go on vacation and I suggested Mayberry.

LOL. The whole town just looked so inviting ... and they had so much excitement! Looked like fun.

As a kid then, and as an adult now, I was never much interested in fishing, but any interest I had was only because of the opening scene of the show. Just made you want to grab a fishing rod and head down to the creek!

    A sad day.

I used to watch The Andy Griffith Show with my dad. It was a bonding experience for us.

They don't make 'em like Andy anymore.

Some CLOWN on Youtube named 'MrBuddhaCharlie' posted a video yesterday saying that it wasn't "Breaking news" and "who cares that he died" and some other crap. Now I don't know if he's joking around or not, but if he is joking, he's a sick man. Needless to say his channel is now flooded with angry messages, lol.

I don't normally comment on videos but I left one on this guy's video.

Good thing it's only a 45 second rant - jerkowitz didn't even get the name right - he called him Andy "Griffin" ...does this guy have some kind of following? He's like a Rush Lamebaugh wannabee...

Before there was cable, Broadcast Tv here in the Orlando market ran reruns of Andy, Gomer Pyle, ( Spin Off from AGS) , Matlock and Mayberry, RFD. Watched all of 'em.

    Thanks, Andy.

God Bless You. Rest in Peace.

I was saddened by the news. I have a lot of memories of sitting around as a kid watching Andy on TV. Those were special times.
It's so different now. Everything just is.
