      Anyways, those of us that are in front of a PC most of the day should get up at least 10-15 minutes every hour,especially if you are older.
      Prolonged sitting can cause bloodclots to form in your legs,among other problems.

    We should avoid long sitting in front of our computer. Talk a walk in every 20 minutes. That's will be good for your health.

    16 hours per day at my desk! 1 hour exercise to combat it, usually back stretching etc

      I sit way too many hours myself. It's not too bad for me because I am always up and running around doing a lot of things almost all of the time.

    At the work days I spend 7 hours seated! But there is no problem because I practice sports everyday.

      Probably more than half of a day, which sucks, that's way I started to practice Pilates. It does wonders for your muscles.
      Yeah, l only get out a few days per week, and walk around the shopping center, but l do do Pilates, a few times a week, and l figure that evens out sitting for probably 10 hours a day!

      Doctors saying that Cancer is caused by watching the TV, is a bit like living for too long is bad for your health. There are plenty of mysteries left about how we tick, and doctors still can't figure out certain things about us, so their speculations need to be taken lightly!

        Soon there's gonna be warning labels on chairs and couches, similar to what I see on all my beer bottles, liquor, cigarettes, drugs, sky diving gear, tools, spray paint, car sun visor, electrical gadgets, bed mattress, kids' toys, plastic wrap, McDonald's coffee cups ...

    I hope my desk doesn't count! I stay plenty active though, rock climbing, wake boarding, I think I am doing fine staying active!

    Yep heard that on the radio yesterday and 100% believe it.

    I notice on days where I sit for extended periods, my muscles seem to get loose, so the slightest movement (like standing) can pinch a nerve or throw a ligament out of wack.

    I also noticed if I sit too long my back will get tight. However, on days I work out this NEVER happens. Its only on days I don't work out that this happens. Thats why on days I have off from the gym, if I'm sitting at my desk for a long time I go get some dumbells, stand up and do curls. Or I'll do some still running/pushups. Just anything to tighten up my muscles.

    I also notice the older my parents get, the more they naturally sit, and the MORE they seem to be dealing with random pains. I tell them they need to get up and get exercise, but when you reach a certain age you don't want to do much of anything.

    So my best tip is if you do a lot of sitting, the least you can do is have some type of workout schedule. Running/lifting/swimming/biking ANYTHING to keep your muscles/tendons healthy.

      Yep, used to get back pain at least once a year, without Pilates, now that l do it a few times a week, back pain is a distant memory.

      Obviously if l really worked at it, slough in my chair, etc l could still wake up in pain, but generally speaking reasonably good posture, etc with some kind of exercise will make back pain a thing of the past, and of course guard against a lot of nasties.
